122,000 tests achieved

As has been said previously if they had actually tested 70k or 80k i would have said well done ! from the point we were when he made the promise it would have been very impressive - But they have manipulated ! Why do they think they will get away with it ? Do you think they are being told by advisers " don't worry no one will check or notice". Its a pandemic ffs
 
this is the same system that Vodaphone used in the early 2000's to become the largest mobile phone provider. They just sent handsets out to all their shops and all the neutrals at the time (Carphone Warehouse, The Link, Phones 4U etc etc) and counted them as sales(They were out of corporate warehouses) worked a treat
 
What a fantastic thread, absolute comedy gold. Initial backslapping, crowing and punching the air that the target had been smashed then, once the realisation dawned that it was all a lie, saying that the target was meaningless and a stupid idea anyhow.
 
Maybe we should take Ecuador's approach. Only 1000 covid deaths yet one one city alone has more than 5400 extra deaths, but they weren't tested so keeps the death rate down.

Corrupt. money and business trips to Jennifer Arcuri, links with Russian millionaires, £1 billion contracts with Chinese developers ABP following large donations to the conservatives, Passing information to a friend to beat up a fellow journalist.
Self serving. Undermining Cameron and May to further his ambitions to be PM, preferring to go on holiday to his country retreat or Jollies to the Rugby rather than dealing with covid 19, and proroguing parliament to avoid scrutiny of Brexit.
Lying. Sacked 3 times for this. So many examples it's impossible to list them unless I plan on still being typing by lunchtime.
What does it say about someone willing to accept a person so unfit for office?

I wonder if the 40,369 test kits posted home but counted in the figures will actually be counted again when they're processed?
 
The counting of tests sent by post.
The changing of the ONS statistics graph showing total deaths (I posted this earlier in the week by the way) which showed a graph starting at 50 deaths and had the UK above all other European nations in deaths, having its start point altered to 2000 deaths so that we appear in line.
The government minister promising that a flight carrying PPE would be arriving on Sunday actually arriving on Wednesday with half the equipment promised.
The whistleblower on C4 news reporting that covid19 was being left of death certificates.
Dominic Cummings sitting on SAGE meetings as an "observer" despite multiple sources saying he was trying to influence policy.
That's just in the last couple of weeks.

It seems like a lot of people don't believe Prof. Newton. He seems quite genuine to me but there again I don't actually know him. Impressed with his Wiki entry mind.
 
We just the need track and isolate parts of the equation now, to make the testing fully meaningful.

They think that can get away with it because they have before - probably the most dishonest general election campaign in UK history led to a comfortable victory.

Government pledge was 100,000 tests "done" by the end of April.

As someone correctly said on here yesterday - celebrations yesterday are nothing but propaganda making a success out of complete failure.
 
What a load of rubbish posted on this site. Postal tests are tests. They are counted once. They are not returned so can't be counted when they are used. Therefore they are counted when they are sent. Why do so many people on here want us to fail?

I set a goal of 1000 Twitter followers. I can confirm I've reached that goal after sending out a thousand invitations to follow me. I've not had any replies as yet but I'm counting them anyway.

They've added the 40,000 to the 'Done' ones, when obviously they weren't done then, just sent out.
The Gov't have juggled the figures to make them look good.

No difference Dave they won't have the results from those 80 k yesterday either or do you count the 30k sent out day before or only those you send results out to.

Good point Southshore. How about anyone with an IQ in double figures would count the number of new followers not the number of invitations. Not quite the same with virus tests is it? 😉
 
I think that most people are missing the main point, to be honest.

Yes, the Government have massaged the figures quite a bit in the last couple of days. Yes, they wanted to put a spin on things for political reasons. Yes, you can have an arcane argument (if you really must) about when a sent test becomes a taken test.

But when this target was originally announced, it was to set the public bodies involved a challenge, namely to achieve an exponential rise in the rate of testing. The precise number didn't really matter then, and doesn't now. What does matter is that the exponential improvement in testing sought is now being achieved. Whether you think it is timely, or should be increased, are separate issues.
 
We all should be pretty used to false counting on this board. There were several seasons of giving out match tickets and counting them as attending. There were also a little bit of false counting according to HHJ. So all in all I'm not that *rsed how many tests have actually been carried out. I am pleased the numbers are increasing, I am pleased at the vaccine research that's ongoing, I am pleased we seem to have passed the first peak. Stay safe AND stay at home because that's sensible Government advice.

It's just an example of how easy it is to manipulate figures in a wholly unrealistic way. And my IQ is fine. Smiles
 
Shame that something which was actually a positive has so quickly turned in to a negative by the media and the left wingers. Let's just be pleased we've ramped up the testing to this degree and not argue over the semantics.

BTW - am not a Tory and genuinely think they've fecked this up!
