Yes, what did happen to Varney later in the season. Early doors he was flying.

It was interesting to read in Chisnall’s book
( which I regret buying in view of later events) that Luke Varney was the only player who didn’t turn up to the end of year awards. Maybe that was an indication that he wasn’t a team player.

I was reflecting on that day v Wolves last Saturday at the Shrewsbury game. It seems like yesterday in some ways..time has chased away the years…

Varney was a quality . From memory I always thought Holloway should have played him more but can’t be 100 per cent .
