Opening ceremony just concluded and some very tasty pairings for Europe……Rham and Hatton ..wow that could be explosive as the opening foursome pairing. Then we have Fleetwood and McIlroy (Fleetwood Mac ) paired together in the final group. Also excited to see Hovland and Aberg (youngest ever player to appear in a Ryder Cup).
Come on Europe !

Did anyone see Hovland ace that par 4 this morning with a hybrid. An albatross. Was mental. Fitzpatrick and Hatton were jumping all over him.

Forgot about Straka and Lowry 🫣

Bookies now have us as evens favourites which is a reversal of a few weeks ago.
should be a close one

I think we’ll get slapped to be honest like we were 2 years ago hope I’m wrong.

Looking at that American team it just looks unbeatable. 😦

Just like they do every Ryder cup.
Europe have won 6 out the last 8

One opening ceremony, I cannot remember which, the American captain introduced his team individually adding how many majors and how much money they'd won.
The European captain introduced his lads as team Europe.
Europe won that Ryder cup.
To quote a captain, "I'm a strong believer in fate, I've a good feeling about this"😉

Brilliant from Hovland at the first…..just what was needed to get the crowd involved. And now Rham holing out at the 3rd…….just can’t beat this event as a spectacle.

The decision to pick the totally inexperienced Aberg over Meronk is looking dicey so far. Lots of mistakes by the Swede. Picked - I reckon - because the Scandinavians love the RC and spend loads of money on golf whereas Poland has no real market.

Good start for Europe but as straighters says Aberg is showing a few nerves, let’s hope he settles down and one great shot will do that 👍

Ryder cup is a weird one for me.

Generally I find golf mind numbingly boring and when you see the slack wearing woolly tank top brigade wanting to talk about that ‘spoilt walk’ it’s an exit stage right.
When I have had to play for work reasons I find it even more tedious. I think I was the only person at Troon that felt that way lol. I also had a day at St Andrew quite a few years back in a masters tournament and lasted one hour before I headed off to the pub bored rigid.

Yet…. Ryder cup comes along. Suddenly, my juices are flowing and I love it. Can’t explain it at all? I absolutely love RC and have been glued to the screen this morning.

I've played golf for over 35 years and absolutely love the game.
Over the years I think the RC has gone far too ott.
Loads of non golfers or golf followers go to it for the "atmosphere ".
A load haven't a clue what exactlys going on, highlighted by the bellend that picked a ball up yesterday at the junior RC🤦
The crowds are great, no need to cheer mistakes, just get 12 on 12 giving it their all and tell Harman to get a bloody move on🤣👍🏻

So many do Wizz. My business partner is obsessed by golf to the point that he bought a golf course 5 years ago near Lincoln. I was hoping he’d do something useful with it like fill it with solar panels or plant a crop but no he actually invested cash to improve it that madman 😂

I think I find it too sedate for me - I love NFL and so many loathe that game too.

This is great entertainment. Europe up in all four. As the women showed in the Solheim however, this doesn't guarantee a win at the end of the week.

I feel the same way about golf including the Ryder Cup

Only thing worse than watching Golf that I can think of is actually playing golf.

I've never had the slightest desire to hit my balls with a big stick

The open will never return to lytham
Don’t start this debate again…….the open is most definitley returning to Lytham…fact !

Some performance so far, chip ins, putts holed and nothing going for the Americans yet.

Long way to go but to get at least 3 points this morning will go well.
The Yanks have to fight back but as any golfer will tell you, the harder you try the more mistakes you're likely to make🤞

McIlroy obviously taking pity on the Americans and giving them a helping hand with his wayward tee shots 🙈. Just giving them some encouragement.
edited: but then Cantlany and Schauffle hand it straight back….wow…just love the swings and roundabouts.

I love golf and I used to play a lot of it and was of a reasonable standard but found it the most frustrating game I have ever played especially when I didn't play for several years because I didn't have the time and Cricket was my number one sport and when I returned to it I was shit at it, it was like learning again and I just found that incredibly frustrating and it spoiled the round for me. I haven't played for over 5 years and haven't missed it but I will try again when I am retired as the exercise alone is worth its weight in gold as you get older.

Anyway, the Ryder Cup is one of the greatest sporting spectacles of them all and I will be glued to as much of it as possible. I actually hope USA make a fight of it this afternoon as once it gets too far away for wither side the tension and excitement goes.

The Masters and the Open Championship are 2 other great sporting occasions.

As for NFL I've never got into it, NHL though, now there's a sport!

I started at golf aged 7 and have played it on and off my whole life, I think because I was taught by my super strict auntie and her even stricter yorkshire husband I had the rudiments drummed into me right from the off I can leave the game for years at a time and still come back and play ok. Now I am retired I have time to play regular problem is golf isn’t big in Brazil so my nearest course is 1.5 hours drive away so I’m only playing once a fortnight at best🤷‍♂️

I love golf and a good course will be a big consideration when I move back to Europe in the fairly near future⛳

Did you wear a tank top and slacks?
Plus those jazzy little white shoes they wear?

I’ve done all of those things yes, what’s your point?

Edit to add: I have followed fashion in golf like I have outside of golf and dictated it some what.

And my shoes weren’t jazzy or little they were cool as fuck and my size👍
