3 dead after falling through ice.

Terrible news, I cannot begin to imagine what their families are going through right now. The worry is the death toll may rise, they believe 6 children ended up in the water, 4 were rescued and were all in a critical condition in hospital after suffering cardiac arrests.

I'm sure the children involved were just having fun and we've all done silly things when we were younger, a very sad reminder of how dangerous open water can be, especially at this time of year.

Can’t imagine what their parents are going through right now, latest report says no more children missing thankfully.

Poor kids and their families.
However, I do remember as a kid, we went on Stanley Park lake when it was winter and frozen
Loads of people and skaters on then.
Must have 1942, as that was a very cold winter.

Water in its various forms takes a lot of lives.

Lakes, Rivers and Waterfalls, when the weather's hot, the Sea, all year around and lakes and ponds in the winter when ice is the danger.

What a terrible tragedy particularly at this time of the year, my thoughts are with the families. R I P.

The fourth child aged 6 has now tragically lost his life, how very very sad my heart goes out to their families 😔

Remeber as a kid, my parents and teachers telling me to stay out of the sea when rough and keep away from ponds/lakes when icy. Took it on board but a few didnt. Kids will be kids, awful shame and it wont be the last.

Yeah there was public information adverts for everything such as water safety, crossing the road etc.they even had the council breaking the ice on ponds to keep the kids off.

Awful tragedy my heart goes out to those children & their families. Had a scary moment years ago on Tarn Hows when it started creaking, we thought it was safe as lots of people were on the ice. Tiptoed off very gingerly the way we came on. Never went on deep frozen open water ever again. Unfortunately despite all the warnings these days it still happens. I don't think I'm dreaming, but I think they used to declare Stanley Park lake safe for the public after so many days of cold conditions/measuring the ice thickness, probably in the 60's. Then they stopped doing it.

Horrendous, felt awful today when I heard the last child at 6 years of age had passed away.
I said to the wife last night, that when I was a kid in the 70s we often skated around on frozen water. Used to throw a brick or a stone on to test the thickness then off we went, feel lucky we didn't end up through the ice.

Two brothers 8 yrs and 6 yrs plus their 11 year old cousin are three of the four dead. which makes it even more tragic for their families. Awful news.

Absolutely tragic news at the loss of 4 children and knowing that 3 were related. The 10 year old that was first to be named wasn’t even with them but sacrificed his own life to try and save the others.
RIP little fellas!
