30th Anniversary Dinner – The Class of ’92 – Billy Ayre’s Wembley Winners vs Scunthorpe Utd

Friday 20th May 2022

The BFC Former Players Assoc are delighted to announce that our 4th LEGENDS NIGHT will be taking place to celebrate our Division 4 play-off win of 1992 when the Pool defeated Scunthorpe United on penalties.

A number of our former players from that team had asked if we could put on a reunion night and this has now been confirmed for Friday 20th May 2022 in the Sir Stanley Matthews lounge at Blackpool Football Club

The event is not a men only one so we would encourage you to bring your wives / girlfriends / friends & family along ( over 16s only ) and let’s all have a really good night reminiscing about the happy times at BFC under the Management of the late, great Billy Ayre ( R.I.P. )

A 3 course meal will be served, a 20 minute film will be shown, and MC Tony Parr will conduct interviews with the players … the dress code is smart casual

I’m quite sure that the BFC fanbase will be keen to attend this event so really looking forward to a cracking night. The feel good factor here at Blackpool under the ownership of Simon Sadler has been quite incredible so it’s great that we can celebrate one of our happier occasions in the Clubs’ history once again .

There will be a raffle & auction as well as a Ltd Edition of just 100 boxed and numbered 30 year anniversary badges along with a Billy Ayre No 15 shirt badge.

The proceeds from the night are going to the Gary Parkinson Foundation and Brian House, the local children’s hospice here in Blackpool

I have asked our former players from Billy’s time at BFC to make a special effort to attend, but as always it’s a pleasure to meet up with all our former players from the various eras.

Billy’s wife Elaine and their son and daughter, David & Rachel will be the chief guests of honour

Tickets are available for this event directly from me priced at £ 30 each

To help me with doing the table plans it would greatly assist me, when purchasing tickets for a group of people that you put them all in just the one name … that way the table plan won’t have loads of individual names

BFC can accommodate table sizes of 10 as well as a limited number of tables that can accommodate 12

I can take payment in cash / cheque / Paypal ( sent as a friend / family ) or pay direct into my bank account

If anybody needs any more info then please do not hesitate to get in touch

Look forward to another cracking night down at BFC !

For both years I couldn't watch, just turned away and celebrated when we scored and they missed based on the crowd reaction. For years later I never saw us take a penalty.

"The event is not a men only one so we would encourage you to bring your wives / girlfriends"

Is this 1977? Would female supporters be allowed to attend unaccompanied? Dear me......

MAC

Don't ever have a pop at me for being pedantic.

The chap was just trying to encourage couple/females today as events like this can often become male dominated without intention.

I don't think anybody is excluded from anything these days but I don't rock up at too many baby showers and I wouldn't think that too many ladies would want to attend a gentlemans dinner with Jack the Rippers performing at half time.

Yes, we need to change that thinking BB, this is 2022 not the Tranmere boardroom
My dad was on the board at Blackpool in the 80’s and I would go with him to the games when he was duty director but we’d have to drive separately as I wasn’t allowed on the coach (deemed to bring bad luck🙄) I remember at Bournemouth having to sit in the ‘Ladies Room’ where I could hear all the men in another room guffawing at Jim Davidson who was cracking jokes apparently about the Mayor of Bournemouth who was also there. I was seriously hacked off that I had to sit with the ladies! 😂

Fantastic sure it will be a great night.
Be great if I could get in touch with lads I use to go to with then.
Only 15 then 🤣

Looking forward to this

Billy Ayres Tangerine Army
Gaz, we are going to sell the boxed Limited Edition badge along with the Ayre 15 shirt badge as a pair for £ 10
All the profits that are raised on the night are to be shared between the Gary Parkinson Fund and Brian House, the local children's hospice

Two very worthy causes

Just a reminder that tickets for the 30th Anniversary Dinner on Friday 20th May are still available from me

Here's the list of former players who have all confirmed they will be coming along :

Steve McIlhargey, Mike Davies, Mitch Cook, Ian Gore, Phil Horner, Paul Groves, Grant Leitch, Jamie Murphy, Trevor Sinclair, Tony Rodwell, David Eyres, Mark Taylor, Chris Hedworth

Sadly Andy Garner is unlikely to come as he is still involved at Mansfield Town and they are in the League 2 play-offs

Unfortunately Gary Briggs will be in Spain led on a beach supping a few cold ones and Mark Murray, Richie Bond and Paul Stoneman regrettably can't come due to work commitments

Still chasing up a reply from Andy Gouck

Billy's back room staff of Neil Bailey, Steve Redmond and Rickie Leighton are all coming along

The standard meal on offer is soup, chicken, cheesecake followed by tea/coffee

The " veggie " option is Red Pepper and Asian Vegetable Thai Curry with rice

Would be great if the Pool fans could come along and have a really good night ... please get in touch to book your tickets

Thanks for all your support
