Lady Di's funeral lasted for a total of 384 minutes. Midnight kick off chaps.
My wife has the same view about football, especially when people moan about a funeral time clashing with something you can't attend or watch on TV. Her sentiments not minePersonally, the Royal Family leaves me cold. I genuinely don't understand why people are interested in it. What human need does it fulfil? What kind of entertainment does it provide?
Yes but football pays for itself out of money contributed only by people interested in it.My wife has the same view about football, especially when people moan about a funeral time clashing with something you can't attend or watch on TV. Her sentiments not mine
They provide an alternative to politicians being the head of state if you think that is a bad thing and there are no other options.Personally, the Royal Family leaves me cold. Sure, I'm just not sure how the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and happier. There's nowt as queer as folk, as they say. They provide an alternative to politicians being the head of state if you think that is a bad thing and there are no other options.
They also act as a real life soap opera for people who like that sort of stuff, bit like the Kardashians without the glamour or the sex tapes.
All seems a bit odd to me in the 21st century but a lot of people have strong positive feelings for them and in some way supporting the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and therefore happier, so I suppose making a sizeable section of the population feel better is their purpose.
Neither do I! It's an odd one.Sure, I'm just not sure how the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and happier. That's nowt as queer as folk, as they say.
I thought this board was split on this? Isn't it a straight choice between Jeremy Corbyn or the Westminster civil service? (smiley)Let’s move on and support this country’s greatest asset.
Plumbs , I bet you're smiling this morning?I thought this board was split on this? Isn't it a straight choice between Jeremy Corbyn or the Westminster civil service? (smiley)
Yup its great. Hope we beat Manure in a couple of weeks then I can walk into that newsagents* on Red Bank Road and ask for a Yorkshire Evening Post on the MondayPlumbs , I bet you're smiling this morning?
Remind you this if we loseFootball irrelevant that day.
Really!? When there's currently a majority in the electorate who love 'good old Boris' and his chums...who also voted for David 'do us a favour Rishi' Cameron. All old Etonian chums together. Our working class love to know their place and will always look up to the Upper Classes - Gowd luv 'em. Sometimes I wish we had the French proletariat living here.Sure, I'm just not sure how the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and happier. What the fuck has KO time got to do with George Floyd? Stop stirring shit where there is noneIt's going to be a family's funeral for one person's husband of over 70 years, four people's dad and a grandfather and great grandfather.
There will be 30 people there.
If you're not interested in it get on with your life.
There's no need for all the negative comments or people trying to be funny.
In a country where people take the knee, a protest triggered by a career criminal in a foreign country, in a sudo show of respect and then think the death of a war hero is inconvenient then some people really need to give their heads a good wobble.
Indeed, I just don't really understand it. Safety in numbers or something, perhaps. Fear of change?Really!? Yes - fear of change. An innate social conservatism that is only infrequently broken; after wars usually.Indeed, I just don't really understand it. Safety in numbers or something, perhaps. Fear of change?
It was an excuse to have a pop at the BBC.The TV channels have already had many complaints about cancelling programs etc.
Let's face it, to cancel BBC1 and BBC2 and put the same program about the Duke etc on both channels was wrong IMO.
I am in favour of the Royal Family, but I thought TV had got it wrong.
No doubt there will be many more complaints this week, and especially on Saturday.
Unfortunately not all people like, or follow, the Royal Family. There are bound to be more complaints.
We'll kick off at 12 00 so the Queen can watch before attending the funeral. As we know, she's a Seasider and won't want to miss a big game at this stage of the seasonIpswich have already confirmed their game will kick off at 12:30pm, not sure if other clubs will follow suit or do they have a choice of kick off time?

No different to religion. I have no idea how anyone believes in a god. But that's up to them, this is basically the same. People believe in a monarchy and it's what they take joy and sadness from.Personally, the Royal Family leaves me cold. I genuinely don't understand why people are interested in it. Well maybe but actually religion and a wealthy family are completely different things. No different to religion. I have no idea how anyone believes in a god. But that's up to them, this is basically the same. People believe in a monarchy and it's what they take joy and sadness from.
It's the same in that if you're not bothered by it don't comment.Well maybe but actually religion and a wealthy family are completely different things.
But i am bothered by it and that's why I commented. It's the same in that if you're not bothered by it don't comment.
And the concept of believing in something is exactly the same.
Nothing, are you illiterate? What the fuck has KO time got to do with George Floyd? Stop stirring shit where there is none
