A few thoughts on the match

I thought we passed it well and looked like a team that can play football. MM was a disaster.

Sonny Carey - he’s been starting for half the season and I’m not sure I’ve seen a single positive outcome. Anderson has done more in 2 games. Needs to go on loan and try and get an assist or a goal under his belt.

Lack of strikers due to lack of investment. We would have scored 3 if we didn’t have a rookie on the end of the chances.

We basically lost to a nothing team who scored without trying. Again. Can’t seem to mark from set pieces, Luton was the same.

Really good first half but if you don’t take your chances and can’t defend properly then it’s not going to be easy. Second half we didn’t do enough and shite defending yet again to concede.

Such a shame for Keshi another injury he was looking really class out there tonight and recently. Shame the same can’t be said for Patino & Carey who were both absolutely crap tonight.

Time to focus on sorting the new manager out and a big rebuild needed for league one so sooner the new man is sorted the better.

Got to be honest, I thought tonight's performance was one of the best I've seen this season. The only difference between the two sides was we couldn't score. Their goals both came from defensive errors. You can't plan for that. I came away feeling more positive about being able to compete in league one.

A nothing team who occupy the playoff places, wake up !

I thought we played in general quite well but we are a team who can't really score and can't defend. Not much more to say is there. Keshi was great again until he went off, Fiorini was good, I thought Patino was fine too tbf, he always shows for the ball and unfortunately for him some of our players pass to him when he's under pressure on a hiding to nothing but he keeps showing regardless and I think hell go far in the future. Carey is another story totally. He is absolutely sh1te and I'm not really sure he'll be any good in LG 1 either.

When West Brom moved forward they did it quickly and with purpose. We pissed about passing backwards and going round the houses. That sort of football may have its admirers but it took us ages to get forward every time we tried a build up. We made some good moves, in the first half especially, but not enough. We lacked urgency and paid the price.

Good points made but if I can adds few more.

Stephen Dobbie deserves credit for playing more attacking players. However we now know the games up.

Neither Maxwell or Grimshaw are good enough and we need a new keeper. (Toby Savin from Stanley would be my choice)

Most of the players out of contract can go and we can rebuild when their wages are gone.

Rogers and Fiorini will never play Premier League football regularly. Patino has not really improved during his spell here.

Bowler should never have left. What has happened to him?

Lyons looks a star and I thought Yates, CJ, Thorniley and Nelson showed enough to keep them. Gabriel is not a defender.

I agree that Carey needs a spell on loan. Dale and Tharme will be invaluable to us next season. We miss Big Marv.

Let’s give those we will be keeping a run in the last three games to avoid having a rough start.

Thought we mixed it up very well in that first half. Yep, there was plenty of slow square patient football but on plenty of other occasions thought we moved it around quickly and incisively with some good interchange of play and change of direction.

Have to agree - thought they played well , Rogers has to score rather than hitting the post , but it’s easily done . It was a lot more entertaining football and we did play it around a lot more . Dobbie has them playing better football for sure

Bowler last time he was here played for a move
This time he doesn’t have to.

In the first half especially we moved the ball quickly at times, and played it through midfield allowing us to carve out some great chances. Imagine if we'd tried doing that against Rotherham and Cardiff instead of against a play off chasing team.

As for Carey, he's struggled but to be honest he should never have been asked to play so regularly in the championship alongside a couple of other kids. He's been forced to because we've continually signed crocks who were meant to be the experience he's needed to learn from. I'll re-iterate what I said the other day - last season we outplayed Huddersfield (who were play off chasing at the time) at their place until Gabriel's red card, and the midfield that day was Dougall and Carey. Our failure this season has been about mismanagement of the squad and the players having the confidence and belief drained out of them by two managers who made all the wrong calls and said all the wrong things. It hasn't been about the players being fundamentally poor players.

Well either way whether Forest go down or not he won't be featuring for them, on what we've seen since he returned, a championship loan to one of the promoted teams is all he can expect if he's lucky. Or he could sit out his contract. Shame as I was really pleased when we got him back. I heard somebody on my way home say, referring to Forest "Why did we buy him" there was an expletive in there too I think.

The team has responded positively to SD appointment and I think it's fair to say if we'd performed like that the whole season we would be mid table at the very least.

I also find it quite amusing on social media reading PNE fans taking the piss, they should know by now that they'll never come close to the passion our fans show win or lose, and the noise we make is noticed by opposition fans all over the country and often commented on, by comparison their ground is like a ** morgue.

Some big decisions now need to be made by the board, we need the new manager in sooner rather than later, plans need to be put in place now for next season and beyond, a big clear out of deadwood is needed especially all these crocks bleeding the budget dry, this season is as bad as I've known it for injured players littering the pyhsio's room, that, along with some poor managerial appointments have been a major factor why our place in the second tier of the FL is about to come to an end.

Our injuries have been shocking -they read the list out on radio Lancs , and it’s not just Fringe players out , it’s players that probably would all be near or in the first 11

Yes, you're right. I think my frustrations come about from the second half when we'd gone 2-0 down. We were still doing the square, patient stuff and there simply wasn't time.

I don't fully buy into the players responding to SD. Imo they are responding to MM going and the situation we are in, possibly with a bit of SD thrown in.

So I say call for SD to get the job by all means but don't overstate his input.

Enjoyed it last night thought we played some decent football. The flaws though are there for all to see, poor defending and a lack of quality in the final third included. The players have not given up though and are giving 100%.
