A nation not to be trusted

Well, this is where Boris Johnson's lies, hubris and willingness to ignore international law has got us to. The rogue nation of the west, not a word coming from government can be believed.
With such a liar and corrupt politician as Boris Johnson at the helm, it is no surprise that the other G7 leaders treat him with disdain bordering on contempt, it is what he deserves.
When the government requests the EU to be pragmatic it is essentially saying let us do what we want. After all who could possibly have thought that an International deal could be legally binding. Anyone who actually read it perhaps, although to be fair that does exclude Boris Johnson (too lazy) or Dominic Rash (too stupid). The irony of Johnson standing there announcing a new Atlantic Charter about sustaining international law and cooperation and then 2 days later threatening to renege on the most important international deal that HE has signed.
Undefendable and disgraceful. That is the Prime Minister you Brexiteers voted for.

Watch the football FFS. 🙄

no-one is interested in anything you have to say as shown by so few replies. You just regurgitate the same old bile.
A post made by you whilst our national team were playing. You're not really a football fan are you. Your only interest is spreading your message of hate. Something you've been doing for years.

So as is your norm, it is straight into a personal attack. The points are valid whether I get 1 reply or a hundred.
Boris Johnson is corrupt and a disgrace as a prime minister.
The points i raise are valid too. You are only interested in making your personal attacks on the PM. You comment or write about pretty much nothing else. A true one trick pony.

Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has hit out at British naysayers casting doubts on Britain's ability to be economically successful following Brexit. Australia is on track to finalise the first comprehensive deal to be negotiated from scratch by Brexit Britain since leaving the EU. Mr Abbott blasted attempts to downplay Britain's ability to be a successful independent country as he noted the great impact the country has had on the world through the centuries.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Abbott said: "Look, it baffles me a little that so many people in Britain are always running the country down. Always counting fears, not hopes. No country has had more impact on the modern world than Britain - when you think of the Mother of Parliaments, or the rule of law, democracy, the industrial revolution, the emancipation of minorities.”

I know exactly what you mean Mr Abbott. I'll bet Australia isn't burdened by its citizens constantly undermining the country, the government and pretty much everything else. Unfortunately, it seems to be the British way, but fortunately it's a decreasing minority.

Alan Sugar slammed brexit on GB News today, is he one of the negative types undermining the country or a businessman that see it for what it is?

I assume it’s not gone down well somewhere financially for him. Using his fame to whinge about it while posting pictures of himself living the life people can only dream about.

Wasn't Sugar the one who donated £200,000 to the labour Party and then received a life peerage? He was obviously a businessman that saw it for what it was then?

Deborah Meaden another naysayer forever knocking this country. These successful business types need to pipe down, what do they know about business

Do you only know business people from the Apprentice and Dragons Den? Surely there must be some proper business types who support your view.

Have a look at what real businessmen like James Dyson, John Caudwell and Tim Martin think about the UK and why they don't want to be governed by the EU.

Can I just check whether that is the same Tim Martin who now needs a lot more labour from abroad because Brexit is giving his business huge problems?

Or the James Dyson who promised to keep all his manufacturing in the UK and promptly moved it all to the Far East?

Check anything you like. It won't alter the fact that these clever and successful businessmen fully support the UK leaving the EU.

Maybe if the unemployed English weren't so lazy, Timmy wouldn't have to moan about his struggle to recruit staff.

Go and have a look at the other thread on lack of affordable accommodation, shortages of staff in the right place, hidden inflation, you might learn the world is not as you see it. Even Timmy understand he needs EU staff. In my lifetime, hospitality staff was Saffas, Kiwis and Ozzies. Then Lithuanians / Latvians. Then Polish. It has always been such, Brexit slammed the door.

Same with fruit picking. Enterprising foreigners coming here to do the graft. Lazy Brits refusing to work. Accommodation and living costs are the same or more for the foreigners, but it was never a problem for them. This should be an opportunity for unemployed Brits, but they're not interested.

Real businessmen who binned staff the minute lockdown came in, then moaned about the lack of cheap labour because of Brexit?

He's left a bit of a vacuum in the business world and all he's ever done is pick up the crumbs from others.

Tim Martin is a clown and didn't Dyson piss off abroad?

Anyone else noticed the swing from blaming 'free-loading' foreigners to now blaming 'free-loading' unemployed Brits. Seems like a moving target that never seems to alight on the real problem.

I can't see any swing. 'Free-loading' unemployed Brits have always been a problem. They don't like manual labour and that's why foreign workers are here in the first place.

Most of the long term unemployed in this country are unemployable, either through lack of ability and self discipline or illness.
As an employer you wouldn't want most of them anywhere near your business and as a customer you wouldn't want to have any dealings with them either.
Worst thing about Brexit is the removal of the freedoms to live and work anywhere in the EU but my guess is that was the thing that most Brexit voters were excited by!
Generally people that want to leave their homes, families and friends for economic reasons are the sort of people that will work hard for a better standard of living, people worth having in your country!
Unfortunately people like Farage highlighted a small percentage of east European criminals as the norm when the truth is they represented a tiny proportion of the people who came here from Europe.

Dyson moved himself and his tax status to Singapore.

He has invested heavily here and I believe it will be the Dyson headquarters moving forward.

With zero tax on dividends and zero CGT, and with Corp tax at 17% it kinda makes sense.

Interesting though, he sold his condo recently and I think he is moving back to the UK, but Dyson HQ will stay here.

cat, I'm not a Boris fan, more left/middle of the road.
However, I surely do hope that your ultra left-wing bias on here does not come down to teaching your kids in class the same.
I hope that you don't indoctrinate them, as you try to indoctrinate people on this board who, fortunately, mainly ignore you.

I see we have lost our seat on the International Court of Justice.
One more sign that this government and therefore the nation is not trusted anymore.

A nation not to be trusted? But it's just been reported that in the past 20 years, compared with other EU member states, the UK resolved its cases earliest, ended up in the European Court least often and won its cases more often. It has by far the highest success rate of any member state in the study. The report concluded: "The UK government has consistently argued that the UK is a good international citizen, which meets its obligations under international law and the data indicate that this is right."

And would you believe it, despite attempts by the fake government, Catinstalbans, Jimmy Krankie and Dominic Cummings to discredit Boris, his popularity with the British people continues to rise exponentially. Does anyone want to venture a reason for this? Here's a clue. Nobody trusts a word these naysayers spout and the majority can see that with Messr Macron and his soap dodging buddies trying to create and exploit weaknesses in the UK union and its economy, Boris is the leader people want with them at this critical time. Strange times eh?

I vote Tory (generally) and do not want BJ as
PM - the problem is the other choices are just as crap!

If you think “Johnson’s popularity with the British voters continues to rise exponentially” you’re clearly deluded.

"Exponentially" one of the most misunderstood words in the English language (explained by Sharon Horgan in the wonderful play "Together" last night on the Beeb).

Sadly, Johnson and his government are moulding this administration into a likeness of himself; and he is perfidious by nature.

So (the old pejorative) of Perfidious Albion is not an unreasonable description of our country, I am afraid.

And any patriots should be appalled by the way he casually tarnishes our country`s reputation in order to save the embarrassment of his third rate government of unemployable lackeys...

What a disgusting thing to say. Talk about running one's country down! This is what we often find under these Tory rocks - a bitterness against our own working people from those who want to see them exploited for the benefit of the rich and powerful.

Sorry if it upsets you, but it's not even an opinion. It's a fact. English people don't want to pick fruit/ wait on/ do manual work.

No I'm sure there aren't many Aussie s doing their country down , they are busy celebrating getting such a juicy deal from those desperate Brexit pushovers known as HM government. Never mind our ceramics industry can at least celebrate , and biscuit Manufacturers was it?
Can't wait to stick some antibiotic laden Aussie lamb on the Barbie. 😋

It's actually our own government running this country down. We are becoming a laughing stock. The fact is we relied on lots of the people we have now made unwelcome to do lots of the menial and skilled jobs. Mass shortage of lorry drivers Anyone? Noticed your supermarket fresh produce shelves looking empty more often ? Start looking. We are slowly being screwed, by ourselves

And many, many people struggle to run a home whilst holding down two low paid jobs. Are they lazy?
All the care-home workers, school and hospital cleaners - are they lazy?
Junior doctors working twelve to 18 hour shifts - lazy?
Young people on internships, getting paid nothing in the hope of getting on in life - lazy?
The next time you go for a pint, will the person serving you or washing your glass be lazy?
Supercilious or what?!
