Afghanistan

Can’t argue with that, the guy bleating all the time about his animals needs a slap
Absolute bollox. The animals were to be stored in the hold of a specially commissioned flight and the seats were for 70 staff. Having not been airlifted, the animals will be shot and the staff now probably will be too.

My concern is about how awful our govt is and in particular Johnson. He's not empathetic ,has no real feelings for people, hence his lack of friends. Saying that weve got the vast majority of people who were entitled to come back here is another of his lies. Neil Coyle MP for Bermondsey and others stating thousands have been left behind.

It’s a sheer unadulterated embarrassing waste of human life, achieved nothing and made things worse than they were before the west moved in. Another vacuum created allowing it to be filled by anti western adversaries, when will we ever learn. 😞

Pen Farthing legend, always put animals before humans👍🏻

All these stray cats and dogs have to go into quarantine on arrival in the UK if they are not chipped, vaxxed etc. It is going to cost about £250 per month per animal for anything up to 4 months depending on circumstances (rabies etc). £1000 per stray, £200,000 in total. Not including the flight cost and all the hassle for the British Army in arranging this.

Who is going to pay? This Farthing chap seems not to have a farthing to his name. I suppose there is going to be another idiot crowd-funding with Carrie as cheerleader. I like dogs (not keen on cats) but FFS where have our priorities gone? What’s happened to the people, they seem to have lost sight of them?

Well that’s it then, we’re out, but that isn’t it is it, there are still somewhere between a thousand and five thousand, depending on who you listen to, who need to be got out.

After that, there’s the question of how the Taliban behave towards women in particular and whether there’s a challenge to their authority by other groups.

Then there’s the question of rebuilding the country, are we going to have to dig deep into our pockets again, can we afford to, can we trust them with billions in aid?

I get it,

I sincerely hope we don’t start throwing Money at them, I think they call that funding terrorism

The cheap heroin that has been widely available almost everywhere is no more. This will cause an explosion in methadone use earning big Pharma £££££
Chemists rake in a fortune dispensing it.
Meanwhile the military industrial complex is scratching their chins on how to create shit elsewhere.

No they’re ok, the US needs to replace all those guns, helicopters and humvees they’ve left behind.

Thought the Taliban were already running around showing off their newly captured shit...at least they can use it on the Isis terrorists to oust them from their country.

Completely agree with that, surely we should use the available time and resource to evacuate as many people as possible. Carrie Johnson supposedly is behind this mission, it's a completely unnecessary waste of resource when we are leaving several hundreds of our Afghan colleagues at the mercy of the Taliban. Not to mention that we are unnecessarily putting our armed forces in danger to rescue a load of cats and dogs. If we had got everyone out that we needed to then there may have been an argument for this but until then put people first. Where are our priorities? An Afghan dog is more valuable than an Afghan person who has helped us and is now in mortal danger.

See below part of an article available on line today from the Observer. Information from someone in the Foreign Office who had access to their email system.

"However, amid accusations of government incompetence over elements of the evacuation effort, the Observer has seen evidence that an official email address used to collate potential Afghan cases from MPs and others regularly contained 5,000 unread emails throughout the week.

In many cases, emails detailing the cases of Afghans who fear for their families’ lives appear to have been unopened for days. An email from the Labour leader, Keir Starmer, sent on Monday was still unread on Thursday. There also appeared to be unread messages from the offices of Victoria Atkins, the newly appointed minister for Afghan resettlement, the home secretary, Priti Patel, and the Tory chair of the defence select committee, Tobias Ellwood.

The revelation calls into question the suggestion from ministers that the number of Afghans left behind would be up to 1,100 in total."

Says emails from MPs often concerned more than one person so the govt cannot have figures on the nos. still needing help

I hate to be the elephant in the room but humans create all this shit why should other species keep suffering for it? Christ all we do is destroy what we create!

Too many people, therefore, too many houses, therefore too much concrete over land, therefore less trees, therefore more cars, more goods, more food to be produced, more transport, etc, etc. Covid without the vaccine might have solved that problem.

Four months ago Joe Biden said “We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We’ll do it responsibly, deliberately and safely. And we’ll do it in full co-ordination with our allies and partners”

What happened Joe?

He lied

It has now been announced that Farthing’s 200 dogs and cats will soon be inspected by Govt vets while they are in quarantine. Any that are sick or carrying diseases are expected to be put down immediately. How many will get out alive? The whole situation is bizarre.
At least Geronimo the alpaca has survived the Govt death squad so far. Some vets are even saying he should be studied rather than killed.

Whilst the subject is misleading! It felt like I grew up in Kabul with the punishment I had as a kid from my parents! I look back and laugh now. But what was your punishment as a child?

My parents classic was to stand me in the corner of the front room nose against the wall, hands on my head!

Talk about being brought up in Basra!

List of many followed this!

P.S it did me no harm.

My brother 15 at the time stole £5 off Mum she beat him the a broom handle then had to keep him off school so the authorities did get involved. I was taken into care at 13 Redbank children home then Fylde farm. My brother died 25 years old. Happy days

Blimey I remember running past Fylde Farm during a school cross country race in 1976/77 and getting threatened by a group of FF lads holding tools in a field. Pretty scary! I can't remember which school it was near.

It’s going to be difficult for any western government to recognise the Taliban officially, after all, they’ve driven a democratically elected government out by force.

I am not so sure about that, the West might well be a tad worried about China. Russia or Iran getting their feet under the table so to speak and therefor come to some understanding with the Taliban.

Never had a clout from either parent, although Dad would threaten. That was enough.
In my formative years 6 to 10 y. old, My Dad was away in the War (that's WW2 for the jokers 😉 ) and I didn't see him for 4 years.
Consequently we didn't get the normal fatherly rulings.
Mum was never a harsh mother and I just followed my older Sister & Brother, 6 years older and 20 months older.

Yellow hot wheels track was my mums choice of weapon.
That hurts whacked across your legs and back of head.
In fact my mum would wallop my mates too if they were messing about.
Those were normal days back in the 70's when kids gave elders respect and knew they would get a slap if you gave any cheek.

Difficult situation for all in the west, as I say, recognition would effectively endorse overthrowing democracies by force, but as you say letting Chine etc, in would worry them. Problem is, I think that ship has sailed.

Oh that’s sad 😞
Hope you are having a happy life now.

It was our school's (St Josephs) cross country course. We used to walk until we got to Fylde Farm then run as fast as we could through the farm😃. Happy days.

In what sense of normality is hitting children seen as acceptable? Hitting children - actually using physical force upon a child? Abhorrent.

Reports that 10 people from one family, including children killed in American drone attack. Hope it’s not true, but what a shocking situation. America took action to prevent suicide bombers, but due to secondary explosions, this family was devastated. Can’t imagine what it’s like living there. We are so lucky.

I got smacked which I wasn’t keen on. But grounding me was more prevalent and more effective 🤦‍♀️😡

I was at holy Jo’s, left in 1957, brothers had leather straps with a whale bone running through it. 6 of the best was brutal.

It is very interesting that the US has left behind 85 billion dollars worth of weaponry.
it is suggested that this is due to panicked disorganization.
They have had months to prepare for this.
is there perhaps another explanation.
that maybe this is left behind so that the country's new gov't, i.e. the taliban, are gifted this to continue their battle against isis.
or have they just left it behind cos they forgot.
Mmmmh

Maybe to justify another war? Or just simply to put more money in the pockets of arms manufacturers? All that equipment has to be replaced.

Joe's on TV shortly to give an in-depth explanation and justification for the withdrawal.

Hopefully someone will explain his explanation afterwards. 👍
