Rumours are it's an Algerian fella going into a school and attaching stabbing children.

Now it might be, might not be - but lots of Irish folk have been getting upset about immigration recently; which is ironic.
Set fire to an immigration centre apparently.

Complete conjecture. You haven't a clue what it's about but you obviously have a skewed agenda..l have no idea but how about an estranged father who hasn't been able to see his child and " goes off on one"

Apparently the guys in his 50s and one of the little girls was only 5 so I can’t see it being an estranged father myself but who knows

I've stayed in Parnell Square area and O' Connell Street on numerous occasions and quite happily walked around at night but I live in that shit hole Birmingham and not the safe haven of Blackpool 🤣

yes been around the Temple Bar and always felt safe but when you're in a big group of lads would think you'll always feel ok in a such a big tourist area.

It's like any city....

I go with work quite a bit and stayed in all areas and walked a lot without feeling threatened. There must have been some underlying issues

Dublin is the only European city I’ve visited that I didn’t feel safe in.
Really? Never been.

Had to work in Belfast city centre about 15 years ago. There was a thread on here recently about how nice it was but I felt as you described. A little uncomfortable.

Used to go loads, train from Bangor to Holyhead and then foot passenger on the Dublin Swift, think it was a tenner, passport control consisted of one fella sat on a stool asking where you were from.

The estates on the outskirts of Dublin are very rough and you have to be careful, but city centre Dublin is safe as. If you feel unsafe there then imagine how people feel in Blackpool with the stags, hens and football lads. Hardly ever seen a fight when I lived in Dublin, some of the best nightlife around and that's not in the tourist trap of Temple Bar.

Not in the old days, it was special branch with trench coats on at every port looking pretty menacing.

Have the woke BBC grown a pair of balls yet and called them thugs or have they said the Irish Government has called them thugs?
As they said at the time about Hamas, they are there to report, not judge. They have reported that the police chief said a far right hooligan element was to blame.

I don't get the angst on this other than its another chance to put the boot in on the BBC.

Yes but they don’t have to keep saying the same thing over and over again on the breakfast, lunch time, and evening news not to mention the 24 hour news channel.

I lost count the other day the amount of times they said it.

The road I stayed on was almost in the city. On the corner was a cafe that was just full of drug users inside and out, so that was off-putting.
Then I googled the street I was staying on and it came back with some historical deaths and murders and I didn’t help myself with that one.

The hotel was rated a 9 on booking.com but I felt like it was a dodgy area indeed.

Travelling alone may make me feel more vulnerable, but also I don’t drink, so the main buzz of Dublin (getting pissed) doesn’t apply to me to balance out the disappointment.

Ironic blaming it on immigrants when it turns out to a be a nutter and then the far right use it as an excuse to smash up the city.
Do you know that 100% though?

I’ve just watched a woman reporter live from Dublin this morning saying investigations are still ongoing as to what caused it (yes I know it was a multi stabbing) but they are keeping very secretive about the bloke who did it and the motive behind it.

But when you see pictures from last night with people carrying Irish flags saying Irish lives matter and enough is enough and the Garda talking about far right wing thugs it’s telling me it’s just more than a domestic issue.

I’ll wait and see before I say anymore on the subject and we’ve establish the facts.

LALA

I used to go a lot and always loved it but not been for a while.

I can't remember why but I was on my jacks in a taxi and got dropped off a little bit away from my hotel.

I asked the taxi driver if I'd be OK, I know I am a sh1tbag - or should I say I am a lover and not a fighter - and he terrified me with stories about Russian immigrants.

I can't say I've ever had any trouble there but if you feel a bit scared I can see - not even being a lone female - how it can take away the enjoyment of a trip.

It didn’t help when I went to Cafe Nero and sat outside with a drink, and some old fella just turned up, dropped his pants in the doorway of the shop next door, and marked his territory.

This was about 10.30 am. All very odd, and not in a good way.

Look at the positives, at least it wasn't in your drink.

Yes.

And that the alleged attacker is an Irish Citizen.
section removed.
We’ll know soon enough no doubt who exactly he is.
Shocking news let’s hope the mother and those kids and that copper who was seriously injured all recover must have been a terrible ordeal.

Last night
I’ve just read a post of social media he’s an Albanian Immigrant (hence the backlash) but yes could still be an Irish citizen I suppose.
Still nothing official as yet so lots of speculation floating around as is the norm in this sort of stuff.

Social media caused it all through misreporting, that's why you've seen an Albanian. It was initially an Algerian.

All the same these foreigners.

But you blamed it on him just being a nutter so care to add anymore?

So by that I’m assuming you are saying he’s not an immigrant then?

I'm saying social media is speculating about nationality but the police haven't said anything. Like you, let's wait and see. Last night the police said it was a domestic.

Regardless, there's no excuse for the wreckage last night.

Yep, especially single males and you got that at both ends.

Dublin is safe enough. Like has been said, if you avoid the rough areas you won't have a problem. Would anyone wander arounds the estates of South London late at night on their own?

Perhaps the perception of being English in Ireland has a lot to do with how you feel.

I’m amazed the ‘far right’ we’re able to mobilise 500 onto the Dublin streets in short order. Takes some doing that. Guess we must assume the left don’t care. Or is that a code for the white disempowered class?

You should be an expert on this sort of stuff. You tell enough war stories.
