An open letter to Mr Critchley.

I view myself as a good judge of character and I genuinely thought you were cut from a different cloth than the run of the mill chase the money merry-go -round group of managers, obviously I am not as good a judge as I thought. I thought you were building something at blackpool that was greater than the sum of its parts based on hard work, all pulling together and loyalty from the top to the bottom. If you had left the club to manage a "big team" I would have been dissappointed but took it on the chin and wished you well but to leave to be a number 2 beggers belief. Your wages will obviously increase but you are a young manager with many years in front of you and other opportunities would have arisen had you continued in the same vein. I wish I could wish you well but I find that I can not do so as this is the most let down I have felt by anybody not just in football for a very long time.

Yeah a bizarre one given his character and supposed loyalty signing the long term deal, you knew he might go but to villa as an assistant. Really poor departure as they go.

But we move on, always another waiting in the wings, more experienced maybe and can get us that attacking football.

The love-in and passion from him is what has made this so shocking, he started off somewhat business-like and if he carried that on this would make sense but he's signed a new deal then consider games like Sheffield United away where he was tearing up, West Brom where he was stood there stunned at the fans send off.

Madness he has fucked that off for an assistant manager role - as you said he made it seem genuine, maybe it was and the wages were just too much to turn down, that is still a depressing fact, loyalty has truly died in football.

Yeah. I’m in full tantrum mode. Not arsed about being reasonable
Chill
I was shocked for 10mins and then thought what a great opportunity for someone else.
As for Critch
He left us in a better place than when he joined, will make a profit on his transfers, and compo from Villa. We do not know the story, maybe at third time of asking he was told no Brannagan, and most of transfer receipts were ring fenced for infrastructure.
We move on

With a five year deal recently signed, we'll probably get more for him than Bowler.

He's decided that being second string at Villa is preferable to managing a Championship club. Is this all about being Gerrard's assistant at Anfield when Klopp moves on? Either way, it's a kick in the teeth for fans of BFC.

That’s the main thing that sticks in the craw…the supposed rapport with the fans…especially the North Stand…..absolute bollocks…

Badge-patting turncoat! To say I'm unhappy is an understatement- more like bloody annoyed! The number of times I've bit my tongue about his playing across the back shite because I thought he was here for the long term in order to build a new style of management with Sadler....then this!

My respect for the football industry is in tatters. Whoever comes in next will have to cut through my cynicism before they get my approval.

Apologies to 62+ who I talked down because I thought this man was going to be something special. I never want to hear his name again.

Mr Critchley did everything above board. We were approached, as a club, and contractually we had to inform him of the approach. He spoke with Aston Villa and was offered a deal considerably above what we could counter. He then spoke with us and sadly we had little alternative but to sit down with Aston Villa and agree compensation.

No other coaching staff are leaving the club at this moment.

No one is saying it's not above board. It's not illegal but it's bloody immoral.

Did the players know he was off before the end of the season ? Could explain that shit show at Peterborough on the last day !

Loved Critchley and his attitude towards the club and the fans but it all feels a bit fake now. Plastic scouser.

I wonder if we’ll hear from him at some point.

Managers come managers go; that's football.

Neil. You came into my life when I was but a boy, and you left me a man. In my view, we're were as close to Barcelona under you than we have been in the past 100 years.

I'm not sure what we do next, but crumble to dust is my initial suggestion.

Agreed. What minimal respect I had for the game is now gone

Dear Mr Critchley,

Well done for making all but a few fans (like me) buy into the ridiculous badge touching, ridiculous post match win fist punches you do, copying your previous boss Mr Klopp.

Some even put you at the same level as Mr Ayre.

Well played

My sentiments exactly, I thought Critchley was different, obviously not, he's just another money chaser that will stab the fans in the back.

I'm disappointed but we move on. He has done a great job and I hope he does well at Villa. There is no point in feeling bitter.
Critchley isn't the only decent manager in the world.
It's the best possible time for him to leave, much better than him going mid-season.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter. We have good owners now who are generally making good choices.
