Andrew Marr v Nicola Sturgeon

It's easy to get distracted by the absolutes but I thought I'd look at a few other European countries to compare in as simple a way as possible. It was particularly aimed at Scotland, but as I did it I expanded it to include the rest of the UK by Nation.

England: Population 56m - deaths from Covid 51187 = 0.09%
Wales: Population 3.15m - deaths from Covid 2563 = 0.08%
Scotland: Population 5.5 m - deaths from Covid 3759 = 0.07%
NI: Population 1.9m - deaths from Covid 1011 = 0.05%

Portugal: Population 10.1m - deaths from Covid 4505 = 0.04%
Hungary: Population 9.6m - deaths from Covid 4997 = 0.05%
Austria: Population 9.0m - deaths from Covid 3184 = 0.035%
Denmark: Population 5.8m - deaths from Covid 837 = 0.014%
Norway: Population 5.3m - deaths from Covid 328 = 0.0062%
Ireland. Population 4.9m - deaths from Covid 2053 = 0.04%
Slovakia: Population 4.4m - deaths from Covid 868 = 0.02%
Latvia: Population 1.9m - deaths from Covid 196 = 0.01%

And for good measure
USA: Population 331m - deaths from Covid 268,000 = 0.08%

The SNP have presided over a shit show in one of their devolved power areas. They cannot blame Boris Johnson's Tory Party. They have additional tax raising powers and use it.

The Labour Party have presided over a shit show in one of their devolved power areas in Wales. They have additional tax raising powers but don't use it.

It's about time our devolved administrations owned up to their failure as much as London's.

It's pretty grim reading for the northern hemisphere's English speakers!

Interesting stats.though I`m surprised Italy,Spain, France and Germany aren`t included.

UK: 0.086%;
Italy: 0.092% (and rising fast);
Spain: 0.096%;
France: 0.080;
Germany: 0.020%;

other notable countries:

Belgium: 0.144% (and rising fast);
Czechia: 0.077% (from 0.006% on 30 September);
Poland: 0.045% (from 0.007% on 30 September);
Slovenia 0.069% (from 0.007% on 30 September).

Interesting stats.though I`m surprised Italy,Spain, France and Germany aren`t included.

Italy 60.4m Covid deaths 55,576 = 0.09%
Spain 46.75m, 45069 = 0.10%
France 67m, 52731 = 0.08%
Germany 84m, 16694 = 0.02%

Scotland for a small country has done badly; Germany has done well.

I'm sure there will be somebody somewhere looking at population density as a key influencer or spread. For the record per square kilometre:

England: 275
Scotland: 65
Wales: 150
NI: 138

Portugal: 112
Hungary: 104
Austria: 109
Denmark: 138
Norway: 14.55
Ireland: 70.65
Slovakia: 114
Latvia: 30

USA: 37.51

Italy: 205.5
Spain: 93.7
France: 122
Germany: 237

It says Scotland have done worse than England and Wales and Germany have done brilliantly. The USA; not so much.

And of course I recognise that in it's not as straightforward as that, but it's obvious that we are significantly more likely to catch a virus when we live in such close proximity with fewer places to be alone.

Yes considering the deficit she was already running even before Covid arrived these "sweeties" are one more illustration of what kind of leader she is.
She will be back demanding more money from Westminster and when we say no will scream from the rooftops how they (Scotland,) get nothing from England yet per capita they get a lot more than England does. You couldn't make it up
