Once saw him rise to head the ball in. The slapping sound it made was like a clap of thunderjust showed his big forehead at the Villa game.
Yes he was a proper, strong centre forward. RIPAndy Lochhead, ex Burnley striker has passed away. Age 81.
Excellent player who once put 4 past Manure keeper.
Sad news, a super centre forward.
RIP Andy.
I remember watching him play for Villa against Blackpool. I don’t know why, but he has always stayed in my memory. Maybe it’s because of his mostly bald head! To a youngster like I was then, he must have seemed too old to be playing. RIP.Andy Lochhead, ex Burnley striker has passed away. Age 81.

My 2/3rd Pool game, I think the bald head is my lasting memory as well, despite the fact we won 2-1. I remember it was Burnley v Blackpool at Turf Moor, and my grandad took me for my first football game ever! Living in Padiham we went to see Burnley (grandad was a fan), but I remember being intrigued by the team in 'orange' jerseys! Burnley won the game 1-0,but I only remember the name of the Burnley 'keeper, Adam Blacklaw. After a bit of a Google search I found details of the game and teams that day(October 1st 1966)....and Andy Lochhead did indeed play up front for Burnley that day... Ray Charnley lead the 'pool line, with Tony Waiters in goal...Remember him when I was a kid growing up in Padiham in the 1960s. Always remember he was a sticker on one of my early football albums! . My grandad took me on Turf Moor once as a little kid(1966)and I think he played that day.. RIP Andy Lochhead...
