Andy Lyons ❤️

Not seen anything about his debut in here, apologies if I've missed a thread, but loved him ! Stronger than I expected ( not sure what I expected really) but so athletic, great going forward, fantastic debut.

Appy said he wasn’t ready yet.

Got done a few times by Denis in the first half but Denis is a very tricky player and he wouldn’t be the first.

I’d say so far so good. I’d feel confident him starting next Saturday there even if CC is available. Plus I’d much prefer either CC or King Kenny in the middle with either Charlie or Sonny.

Jerry made a difference today but I also thought the same of Kenny. We looked more solid and he created CJs goal too

I thought we looked wide open down the right hand side today. Not necessarily Lyons fault, but just felt a goal was coming from that side.
Agree with the above re Jerry. Has to play down the middle

Lyons was excellent, made so a positive impact going forward and defensively good, against a good player.

Sonny was very good today and he’s getting better all the time. Looks head & shoulders better than Patino in the vital elements of the midfield game. If you asked who was the Arsenal starlet it would be Sonny.

The change is Kenny for Patino. Kenny and Sonny were fantastic at Huddersfield last season, when Sonny got injured.

Wait until we start Josh down the right. Then you will see the true meaning of wide open. He’s a tangerine Legend but tracking back is absolutely not in his repertoire 😂

As far as debuts go I don't think we'll see many better.

Prem opposition against a lad who was in League of Ireland only weeks ago and didn't look out of his depth.

He'll make a massive difference to the way we play.

Much more confident on the ball than Connolly and not scared to go forward...that's no disrespect to Connolly who imo is still an option at centre half.

I thought he did well ,we might have a player there, but I wouldn't be surprised or bothered to see Connolly back at RB on Saturday

Think Appleton is wanting to play it safe with Lyons and do a bit of on the job training to see how quick he picks up whatever it is he wants from him. He's just come straight off the back of a season as a right footed left wing back in Ireland so there's re-adapting to do. Working to a different set of instructions and opposition. I know he's played in that european LDV vans trophy thing as well but it's not the Sat-Tue-Sat championship.

If Connolly is fit I'd say he'll be back in next week. Feels weird seeing a right back playing at right back after all this time though.

It’s the left back position which is more concerning now. Thompson should be able to make that position his own with his attributes but silly mistakes is hindering his progression. Even today, I thought he had given away a penalty 1 minute after coming on.

We were wide open on both sides, as we have been all season. The fullbacks are continually sucked across the pitch instead of staying with their men.
