Never said rubbish. I just highlighted a time where he was very slow to close down a shot and they hit the bar. To be fair you were probably thinking of a food thread to notice. But a Tense Grinning thought he was rubbish 1st half
Andy, with Callum replacing the woeful Charlie Patino. So, Andy or Callum next Saturday?
Not sure about Callum in midfield. Maybe more incoming this week hopefully. But Patino needs a rest in my opinion. He's started to lose the ball too often giving opponent the chance to counter. Also he doesn't track back quickly, or often enough. It's easy to forget how young he is sometimes.Andy, with Callum replacing the woeful Charlie Patino.
I agree that Charlie needs a rest as he’s started to give away too many balls in key areas but he will learn from it. Time to bring in the CDM hopefully a new one.Not sure about Callum in midfield. He's not even playing with full confidence and knowledge of his role and teammates yet.
I saw enough today to think we might finally have that Crainey/Seamus type we've been seeking for so long. Linked really well with Shane who IMO has just had two of his best games in tangerine.Great debut........
Credit goes to the scouts who scouted him and to the board who according to a lot of folk are rubbish, for having the fortitude to sign him..

Not all defenders need to be big physical specimens though. Tenacity, timing and positioning all key attributes. Look at Crainey and Coleman, both quite sleight but were never bullied. Not saying Lyons will be in their league but didn’t see anything today that suggested he’s too lightweight.I also thought he had a very sound debut.
Just a couple of obsevations.
In the first quarter of the game I thought he'd forgotten what position he was playing as he was so far up the pitch.
He's not got the greatest physical presence so he needs to get on the weights.
Plenty of promise though and looks very comfortable on the ball.

Must you? We've just won 4-1 in the Cup.Andy, with Callum replacing the woeful Charlie Patino.

Good to see Carey getting some recognition. I think he's a very good player, and it's not that he's consistently a threat throughout a game. It's because he has the ability to affect a game, and by doing it in different ways. I'm talking about the superb little bit of skill/control to set up Patino vs PNE, but then later on manages an inch perfect through ball to CJ that resulted in the third vs PNE. He is a bit inconsistent but he 100% has the ability to be a top player. I think if we can get that midfielder playing the holding role behind him, we'll see him (and us) flourish.Let's give him several games before we over egg him. He had a really good debut, I liked the way he defended and tackled but we are always quick to build a player up after one game. A really good start, let's hop he carries on and improves. Exciting prospect for sure.
I thought Patino battled hard in midfield but Carey was the better of the 2 of them, he had a really good game and was tenacious as well as creative. Patino is a young lad. He will have the odd dip and if we get the midfielder we need this window he may well find himself on the bench, particularly now Poveda has taken the number 10 position for himself, we are lucky to have Patino and even luckier to have Carey as our player, what a bargain he was, he is getting better with every game. Competition for places and square pegs in square holes is what we have been missing all season, that is changing and it's great to see.
Great debut & say hi to Jackie from me, I’ve not seen her for agesI said to my boys, it's a good thing when you don't notice a defender.
He did well as doing the defending stuff, hi Jackie to make up for mistakes etc etc.
Solid display.

He’s not woeful by any stretch but is trying to cover all the holes in midfield, a lot to ask of a teenager.Andy, with Callum replacing the woeful Charlie Patino.
True, it is but one game.He did very well on his debut. But let's not get carried away just yet. Bigger tests to come for him and the rest of the team. Promising debut and looks composed on the ball.
Ive seen a bit of him, looks a great prospect, two good feet played left wing back most of this season for SR.I saw alot of him last season and he was never an out and out defender. He looks to get forward all the time. If he was told to defend today, that would have been foreign to him. I can't wait to see him pushing forward up that wing. Seamus Coleman had a great game against United this week at 37 years old both defending and attacking and that's what Andy can do for us.
Not sure the Hoops would be happy with that assessment. Clubs don't beat teams like Ferencvaros if they're at least 3 levels below us.Given he has jumped up at least 3 levels playing in a side that hasn't won since October and played against a Prem club I don't know how much more could have been expected of him.Well done carry on.
