Annie Nightingale RIP

She was guest of honour at some charity disco I went to down in Sussex donkeys years ago. Arrived with her fella, nattered to everyone, what you heard on the radio was what you got. Loved "Annie after dark"on radio 1, some good and controversial discussions way before t'internet.

Genuinely sorry to hear the news. Back in the day, as a teenager, I manned the sweets/cigs kiosk at Leeds Station opp platforms 1 & 2 on Sunday afternoon/evenings 🥶, where the Annie Nightingale show on my radio was a regular friend. Also loved her on OGWT, where her genuine love of the music came over to the audience.

A genuine pioneer for women in broadcasting, without making a fuss about it - & a great broadcaster in her own right. RIP.

Aye, sad about this. Great DJ. Absolutely the opposite of the kind of empty chat and hit the button on the playlist computer type. Proper loved what she played which should be prerequisite for anyone on the radio.

When she and John Peel were on R1, you could hear the enthusiasm for different music types. I’ m sure her influence continues with Lauren Laverne and Mary Ann Hobbs, very knowledge enthusiasts
