Another one quits the Labour Party

Bradford Labour MP Imran Hussain has quit Sir Keir Starmer's shadow ministerial team over his desire to "strongly advocate for a ceasefire" in Gaza. His resignation from Sir Keir Starmer's frontbench team matters, because of where the logic of his leap will leave others on the frontbench we know are sympathetic to his view.

Sir Keir seems to be between a rock and a hard place at present.

He hasn't quit the Labour Party.

Good for him.

Starmer’s got this one very wrong.

I'm afraid as usual we're kowtowing to the Americans, who themselves are orchestrated by the Jewish lobby.

I go with the UN, Oxfam, Save the Children, Red Cross, MSF and all of the other international agencies. Yes and even the evil warmonger Putin.

Cretin Yahoo will go too far and eventually alienate nearly all of his allies.

A ceasefire is the only humanitarian solution. How many Palestinian corpses of babies does he want? At the moment it's 4000 and counting.

Would it be otherwise but the Americans are the only ones with a chance of securing a short term solution to this conflict. That is why the EU, UK Govt and the Labour Party are aligning themselves with the US policy. Does it make me happy to say so? No. But there are no workable alternatives. Even the Americans are struggling with Netenyahu's intransigence.

the list of names of these councillors who have quit the Labour party makes interesting reading. I also watched last night the David Baddiel documentary "Jews don't count" which was very interesting. Suggest some of you watch it.

Sorry? I don't understand what you're implying,

Is there some significance in the names then?

Yes I have, but I'm more interested in your reference to the names.

What point are you trying to make?
Good job that I'm not that bothered about politics otherwise that Dawn Butler speech shown in the documentary was something else wasn't it? Fancy failing to mention the Jews. Like i said my lack of interest in politics meant i'd no idea who she was and still don't and i obviously don't recall it.

Ok.

But what about the list of names. You said it was very "interesting"

What's so interesting about a list of names?

No loss!

He hasn't quit the party. He's resigned as a Minister because he doesn't agree with the line of Cabinet.

Collective responsibility. Right thing to do if you don't agree.

I'm not clear whether you were referring to the Burnley councillors who resigned from the Labour Party.

The leader of the Council Afrasiab Anwar along with Ishtiaq Mohammed, Shah Hussain, Asif Raja, Serish Lone, Misbah Kazmi, Arif Khan, Lubna Khan, Saeed Chaudhary and Nusrat Kazmi.

What's "very Interesting" about those names?

perhaps for some reason they have more of an interest in what is happening in Gaza/Israel then the many other Labour councillors across the country. Who knows? Did you watch the Baddiel documentary? Yes you said you did though you chose not to comment. Thought it was interesting when he said those with anti-semitic views is also racism. He put the point across very well and yeah i tend to agree with him. You?

Anyway, i'm out for a few hours now. Have a nice evening. 👍

All foreign names, not saying they weren’t born in the UK but I would think they might be of Asian heritage and possibly have biased views

You know what you meant.

I know what you meant.

Everybody knows what you meant.

Are you such a coward that you can't own up to the true intent if your post?

It's a repeat. Watched it a year ago.

So "Asian Heritage"

China?
Japan?
Korea?
Thailand?
Sri Lanka?
Myanmar?
Nepal?

You need to make yourself much clearer, or are you such a coward that you're not man enough to own up to the true purpose of your post?

I would think they are of Pakistani heritage

Are you going to Bolton on Saturday, happy to meet up with you to discuss my cowardice

Or even Russian, Turkish, Uzbek, Israeli...

That’s a pity would be nice to put a face to the smart arse you are
You've used that before. At least come up with something more original.

Now run along and post on the football side. You'll embarrass yourself on this side.

A very good documentary with a lot to take onboard, and not hard at all to identify with and accept his main arguments.
I would encourage anyone who hasn’t seen it to have a look.
Interestingly also he doesn’t feel much of a bond to Israel, and resents the need to defend its every action just for being Jewish.
Nor should he have to, in the same sense that the vast majority of muslims should not be held accountable for the actions of Hamas or Isis or indeed Saudi Arabia or Iran.
Even an apology to Jason Lee after all these years as well 👍.

Nope simply proving that you are a racist as well as an anti semite. You know, some one who gave the thumbs up to all Jews being invited to go and live in America. And you call others cowards. Think you are in denial of what you are.

yep, his discussions with Miriam Margolies were fascinating and I could really understand both their pov's with regards to being Jewish and Israel. As for Jason Lee, yep what at the time was so funny for the audience without failing to realise the effects it was having. Every credit to JL because he simply wasn't there to receive an apology, it was quite clear in his manner how it deeply affected him so although they shook hands i felt it was something he found hard to forgive, if he even did.

Yes I agree, I don’t think he did quite forgive it did he.
I must also confess to finding it very funny at the time.
I suppose every day is a school day for all of us, and probably it needs to be.

yep, it was of it's day, just like so many other things in our history which some of todays people society want to vilify. Seemingly because perhaps they somehow t think everything in the world today is hunky dory and their attitudes are spot on. In other words they are smart arses. Hey, that's controversial but i think it's true.

It was certainly of it’s time. I haven’t seen the Jason Lee stuff they did for 20 odd years to be honest, and I suspect we would both probably vilify it now if we watched it.
I don’t think many people would think everything is hunky dory today.
Some might think their own ideas and opinions are hunky dory, so perhaps not a bad idea to treat every day as a school day.

yep, your last sentence is the point i was trying to make with regards to todays views.
