Another striker required?

I think we all know that we do require another striker and after last nights game I feel that this was highlighted. I'm very happy with Madine and Yates but at the same time I feel that a 3rd striker is a must and would give competition to Madine and Yates. The question is who? Personally I would like to see someone come in with experience and can put away more of the chances we are creating. Would be great if we could rewind time and sign Kevin Phillips again or GTF. On this occasion though I'm going to say that I would like us to sign Sam Baldock who was once league ones top goal scorer for Brighton in the 2013/14 season.

Baldock is on 18k a week has another year left on his contract that's the problem with the salary cap the gap between Championship and Lge 1 wages are huge that's probably why we picked Dougall up he'd have being waiting for the payday rather than the 2.5k he can pick up with us.

Going to be a struggle unless we can get a loan in.

Could get Baldock on a loan.

Its always a suprise to me that people walk around telling everyone how much they earn, is that how you found out how much Baldock is on pool?

I only said it was highlighted and was only an example. Who would you sign?
Don't know. I don't think you'll get an old head like SB to come in and it probably doesn't need that. Just someone capable of coming in or on to replace GM and the player you need would fit into certain criteria, making it easier and harder to recruit.

They’ll be already on it. There might be a tall prem kid that wants the chance on loan here that can be cover for Madine. Yates role can be filled by several of our number 10 / attacking midfielders like Keshi, Woodburn, Bez, Kemp.
They might also be looking at Div 2 / Conference players that can be coached to improve too.

obviously we will be signing the Irish goal keeper from Liverpool in the summer so that’s covered later!

The hard part is finding someone good enough who doesn't demand ftf.
I don't think the type and calibre of striker we need is within our price range, but I do believe this type of player is there to be loaned. And it would definitely be a player demanding first team football. Is that a problem? Madine and Yates need some competition as there is none at the moment..

Just looking at the list of Championship players who become out of contract in the summer one name pops up, Frazer Campell from Huddersfield Town, 33 and not prolific but neat, holds the ball up will and possibly affordable in a January sale.

What's his name?

Given the salary restrictions we'll struggle to find anyone with real experience and a decent goal scoring record willing to come here who can fit under the cap and essentially be the third choice striker.
You also have to factor in the type of players we sign, so you'd imagine anyone on the wrong side of 28 won't be on the cards.
It's likely we'll bring in another youngster on loan who, depending on his ability, may be able to do a job from the off (like Ballard) or provide an option from the bench (Woodburn or Kemp).

Were not talking about someone who works in a bank or your local plumber same as we know how much PL players are on there salaries are out there.
Even if the figures are wrong it's going to be between 10-20k how do you compete.

Liam Delap from Man City on loan until the end of the season. 6ft+ and still growing as only 17. Scored against Bournemouth in the league cup and three in two in the pizza trophy games, which is similar to how KDH came on the radar last season. Good touch for a big man, strikers instinct in the box.
This is actually a very good shout. Not sure if Pep would allow him out on loan though.

So, what was stated as fact is now presented as an estimate, fair enough

I suppose you compete by knowing the details then working out your own budgets, factor in the cap, move a couple of players out then make your pitch and if you don't get him you go for him and on down your list.

As someone said earlier they will be on the case have looked at the software that informs so many deals these days and have a list ready, its not an old man and his fool of a son running this operation anymore and thank heavens for that.

I can only dream but love Billy Sharp!

Totally missing the point 2.5k max we can pay out no Championship player under contract is coming here unless a loan and the club stumps up nearly all the wages.

But, you don't know what we can pay unless you have seen the budget. Its fair enough to speculate but not state speculation as facts. As for on-line sites quoting incomes I just don't buy it. Know one I know in any walk of life shares their income details with anyone but their accountant and maybe , if she or he is lucky, their spouse.

I agree though, Baldok is out of reach, probably.

Could Joelinho be the answer if he sorts out his personal problems and becomes motivated to become the player he could be?

Wouldn't mind us poaching a striker from one of the 'lower' teams in League One.

Joe Pigott from AFC Wimbledon springs to mind.
Proven at this level, big lad, and seems to get amongst the goals.

Downside is obviously the fee Wimbledon will demand.

I was actually looking at Pigott earlier on. The only problem is that wimbledon would want a fee for him.

Liam Millar from Liverpod? Canadian full international. Could be heading out, Championship clubs interested, but he knows NC well and will trust him, we could be a good first step for him.

ive said since pre season we dont score enough goals for our good build up play we may need a bit of back up for the front two.

Liked the look of Eisa from Scunthorpe but suppose we need a Gary Madine type
How about a cheeky bid for Ched Evans to upset our 'rivals'

I genuinely believed played alongside Madine than Dan Kemp could be that player. Just needs more game time and a few more chances to shine.

Hardy is an interesting one- clearly talented but failed to break into a first team or go on loan. Could be really useful for us and him.
