I get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.I think Southgate is one of the worst England managers we have had, he keeps selecting players who are either woefully out of form or are not playing for their clubs (Maguire, Horrenderson, Phillips, etc).
I would love England to sack Southgate (even though he seems like a nice guy, just not cut out for top level management) and replace him with Eddie Howe.
Southgate never did anything as a club manager, to warrant his involvement with England. Any half decent manager could have done what he has done with England U21's and the National team. A good manager would have won something by now with the resources available to him!
Any half decent manager would have achieved that as a minimum with the talent available in the squad (Appleton & Mcarthey not included). A good manager would probably have picked up at least one trophy possibly two.I get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.
The facts speak for themselves - the most successful manager England have had since Ramsey.
Successful by winning nothing!I get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.

Some people have a funny idea of success. Using that yardstick, if we lost in the playoffs semi final and finals in 3 successive years, Critchley could be considered an outstanding success.Successful by winning nothing!
Just the same as Ericsson, Allardyce, Taylor, Robson, Revie etc etc
For managers still on an upward curve with their careers the England job isn't the pinnacle any more. The Newcastle job is more attractive to an established manager in his forties and fifties.I think Southgate is one of the worst England managers we have had, he keeps selecting players who are either woefully out of form or are not playing for their clubs (Maguire, Horrenderson, Phillips, etc).

Have to agree there is some woppers on here !!I get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.

Is that the multi trophy winning Eddie Howe ? ;-)I think Southgate is one of the worst England managers we have had, he keeps selecting players who are either woefully out of form or are not playing for their clubs (Maguire, Horrenderson, Phillips, etc).

A better manager would of won something with the squad we have I lost all hope when we had the final at Wembley and bottled it he is responsible for that and all the other failures he is responsible for us failing at euro 96 he’s pathetic hes not the worst England manager allardyce takes that one but he’s not far behind him he's useless I refuse to watch them while he’s in chargeI get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.

ER not really three out of the last five Champions league winners have been English sides. Here we go...England are God's gift to football. The best league in the world, super Sunday, massive TV audience...might you ever think you're being conned.
Nope as no foreign manager has EVER won the World Cup like the players has to be someone from your country.Just imagine if pep guardiola had been given that squad over the period of time Gareth has had it, I’d say we’d of been world and European champions by now
And Ashley Cole,Rio Ferdinand,Paul Scholes,David Beckham.Easy to say any decent manager would have achieved 2 semis and a final at major tournaments but is the talent level of those squads really that much better than we had under Sven, Capello etc?.
Fact is even with Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney etc these managers couldn't match what Southgate has achieved.
Oh, you mean our Europeans beat other teams Europeans.ER not really three out of the last five Champions league winners have been English sides.
"Woke piece of shit of a country." Says more about you than it says about the England manager. He’s an FA figurehead and a shit manager. The former counts for more in this Woke piece of shit of a country. The talent we have available is an embarrassment of riches. Never has there been a better pool to draw from. But he is far too cautious playing with a wheel clamp on never mind a handbrake!!
Go on I'll bite last ten year World Club champions have all been from Europe.Oh, you mean our Europeans beat other teams Europeans.
And....?Go on I'll bite last ten year World Club champions have all been from Europe.
Here we go...England are God's gift to football. The best league in the world, super Sunday, massive TV audience...might you ever think you're being conned.And....?
My point is that everyone gets on the back of the England players and manager because they believe all of the advertising shite that England is the home of world football. It's bollocks, it's dirty money and it's a conn. Here we go...England are God's gift to football. The best league in the world, super Sunday, massive TV audience...might you ever think you're being conned.
Thought you where being dismissive of the English clubs or did I read the room wrong?
I was trying to put your argument down as wrong.
We've Won 8, drawn 2 with no defeats in the calendar year.I get that you don’t rate him, but to call him one of the worst managers we’ve ever had after getting us to 2 x WC semi finals and a Euros final is up there with one of the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen on here.

It’s the squad that’s carrying himGlad we have a football tournament to look forward to next year, last year's World Cup was a nonsense, but anyone else think Southgate will ruin another summer?
That’s the spirit palNeil critchley would do a better job than Gareth Southgate and he’s rubbish I’m not watching them I know it’s all going to go tits up I’ll watch the rest of the tournament just not England.
Poor at goalkeeper ?? Pickford has a great record for England, not sure how we could improve on him.Southgate has lots of good qualities that I admire but he lacks a pair of bollox which will always stop him winning the big prize, the Italy game at Wembley summed him up, we go 1-0 up and he changes shape in to a defensive shell hoping to hang on and hit them on the break when we were the home side FFS, he then strangely picks three of the five young inexperienced subs who are not match ready to take penalty's, surprise, surprise they all miss them.
His record at qualifying for tournaments is very good compared to other European teams and yes he does have some excellent talent at his disposal, however his blind loyalty to players like Hendo, McGuire, Philips is just downright senseless and is a serious hinderance to moving the team to the elite level of tournament winners, we have lots of quality players in midfield like Foden, Rice, Saka, Bellingham and Grealish, but we are poor at goalkeeper and centre backs and no team ever wins the big prizes when you are weak in such key areas, no matter who is running the show.
That will always be our Achilles heel until the right quality players comes along.
Sorry pal not for me, I rate Pickford as pretty average and he certainly doesn't come anywhere near the best in the PL when you compare him to the keepers at the other clubs, the other issue is we have no depth at keeper when you compare us to the other top tier nations.Poor at goalkeeper ?? Pickford has a great record for England, not sure how we could improve on him.
ER, excuse me Wizz but Sam Alardyce is the most successful manager of England ever with a 100% record.Successful by winning nothing!
Just the same as Ericsson, Allardyce, Taylor, Robson, Revie etc etc
Actually if you check his XG stats they are very good although I suspect that relates to amount of shots faced and playing behind the Everton defence, let’s face it he is going to be kept busy !Sorry pal not for me, I rate Pickford as pretty average and he certainly doesn't come anywhere near the best in the PL when you compare him to the keepers at the other clubs, the other issue is we have no depth at keeper when you compare us to the other top tier nations.
You're right Pickford has done well for England, but he's nowhere near the level of the likes Martinez, Edison, Alisson and Raya for me.
