Being straight, I do wonder whether having a rainbow painted fire engine, will have the desired effect of increasing the recruitment of non-straight workers.

It's like rainbow lanyards and all of that stuff, I can't see how it will impact, but that might be cause I'm straight.

It all feels a bit superficial and token gesture, rather than really trying to understand why non-straight people choose not to apply - whether that's because of the colour of the engine, the uniform or a deeply *phobic work culture.

Rainbow stuff wouldn't stop me from applying mind.

£17k is a waste of money if it doesn't do what's intended; only time will tell
