Anyone else not overwhelmed by the Critchley return?

When you take emotions out of the equation, Critchley is by far the best candidate who knows the players, knows the league, and
above all knows what it takes to get out of league one. What Sadler needs to do is allow him the funds to bring in 3 or 4 decent players
as we did the first time around with Yates, Anderson etc and we will get the feel-good factor back.

Not my personal choice - I’d have preferred giving Dobbie a run, but at the end of the day, like pretty much all of us, I support BFC - the club & the team, rather than whoever is the current manager/head coach.

In that vein, I welcome Mr Critchley back to our club & give him & the team my 100% backing.

I'm not unhappy he's back, I think the reason we were dull to watch in the Championship was because he wasn't supported properly by Sadler and the board and nor were MA or MM either. My gripe is still with the man at the top, he is the one who has to prove himself for me, he has made way too many fuck ups in the last 18 months and he HAS to support NC properly, we can't go another season without a proper, tough skilful central midfielder, we haven't sorted that out for 3 ** years!

So I hope the supporters get behind Quitch, I know what people are saying but if we do an MA on him then we are culpable of ** things up too. I will be watching how well Sadler supports him and who else he is bringing in for the boardroom etc., He has to support him or else the wrath will fall well and truly at his door.

Dougall and Trybull will easily be good enough for this division.

Absolute joke ………… it’s through his actions that we are where we are …….. I don’t know who is advising Sadler but who ever it is should be sacked ! 3 out of 4 managers appointed by Sadler have been previous Blackpool managers all of which have failed ……. will they ever learn second time around managers more often than not fail for a second time !
For me the way he left shows his lack of integrity as a man and I believe like Appleton’s appointment will split the fans , the way he left was worse than Appleton because he had to put with Oystons and had good reason to go , where Critchley had the boards and supporters backing and. 4 year contract. He failed at both Villa and QPR so not a could track record outside of Blackpool. I just hope this is not yet another poor management decision which could to the slippery slide through the leagues again !
I hope I’m proven wrong because as always I want success for BFC .

Really disappointed if he was the best available.

Yes he got us promoted, but his departure set the ball rolling to our relegation, and was one of many factors for our demise.

I also don't get the seemingly obsessed need to go back to former managers.

Never in my history of supporting the Pool has a returning manager bettered their original success.

I give you, Bob Stokoe, Allan Brown, Simon Grayson and Michael Appleton.

Totally underwhelmed.

I agree with you on ex Managers, but I am going to choose to see this as a positive.

NC has no alternative but to be successful .... quickly.

Mr Sadler’s final paragraph in his statement was an interesting addition...

“I’d also like to thank Stephen Dobbie for stepping up for the final six matches of the season. He did a wonderful job in what were challenging circumstances, and I am confident he will have a successful career in first-team management in the years to come.”

I am pleased he took the opportunity to thank Mr Dobbie, that was inevitable, he deserved at least that and I hope he gets more opportunities to integrate his coaching activities with the first team squad.

But... will Critchley view that paragraph as encouraging his staff well, or as a Sword of Damocles hanging over himself, implying that Mr Dobbie is there to immediately take over full-time if he fails? And has Mr Dobbie been promised that? The last half of the 2nd sentence might indicate that.

It all feels a bit “Amateur Psychology Hour” to be honest and it might work out OK or it might lead to unnecessary friction. Well, we will see. I hope the Muckers give everyone a fair chance.

The best thing the club could do would be to stop engaging with fans, get their heads down and get on with the job at hand. Let the results do the talking.

The entitlement of some to want to know the forensics of every facet of the club is pathetic.
But the results have spoken, we got relegated, remember?

What a dogshit negative post … 👎

Personally I was hoping for a clean slate appointment if not Dobbs who must feel somewhat deflated I would have thought

Critchley is going to have a task on his hands winning some over - an issue any new appointment wouldn't have had to deal with

Up to SS to support him to make sure we get off to a good start
Also up to fans too, was completely flat under Appleton, however let's face it this is nothing like that appointment. He'd never done anything for us. So I don't expect that kind of negativity and nor have I seen it.

I was a big fan of Dobbie, shame of he's not involved and to have that real connection like we had.

Critch can get it back, but people need to get over him leaving for many times the wage, ok he didn't say goodbye, he's apologised.

The football was alright at times for the players we had, he wanted a passing style initially, so let's see if we get the players for it, but with the all important pressing too.

For want of a better word QPR fans will be without a doubt flabbergasted ☹️
I think he had 10 games at QPR, won one, drew five, from the next 10 after he went they won one and drew two, and managed to ship 6 goals at BR. They were also on a run of 5 losses and a draw when he took over.

I think any sensible QPR fan would recognize that the problems were far deeper than the manager, and that he didn't get a fair crack of the whip.

Dougall is nowhere near good enough and will be off I reckon, Trybull could be decent but we still need that dominant midfielder, we haven't had that for ages.

Critch likes Dougall and he is in charge now, as I watched Dougall in both games we were allowed to watch in league one, he is easily good enough for this league. Perhaps if you had watched him in person in this league instead of watching online you may have a better idea of how good he will be in this league.

It’s yet another ex manager coming back. It’s almost like Sadler is desperate to prove that this tactic of rehiring will work eventually so he can say “I told you so”.

I’m as “whelmed” as I was when Appleton was touted for a return.

And who was the catalyst for it all, remember?
The point is that every time we look back it fails, that's what we're all saying.
As someone else has said, it wasn't Critchley's fault the club had no plan in place after he left.

Appleton wasn't looking back, it was simply an atrocious appointment of someone who should never have been considered, regardless of whether he had worked here or not previously.

Personally I’m delighted we have a Manager who won’t need time to settle and knows half the team already. Also has proved he can get us out of League 1 and consolidate in the Championship.

He is also going to be a bigger draw for new signings than the last appointment.

Yes he made a mistake not addressing the fans but admits that. For the good of the club it’s a good appointment and we need to grow up and get behind him.

If you can’t do that fine but I am not sure what some people were expecting.

Welcome back Neil. UTMP

I'm not unhappy he's back, a manager who got a load of players believing in their ability and got them to play football to suit the squad. I'd rather a manager develop the team than try and force their single minded philosophy on a team, and when it doesn't work try some other crap idea which just doesn't suit the players you have got. Like him or loathe him he added value to quite a few free transfer players.

We need a couple of decent signings, some defensive organisation, a good start and positively NO fisting.
He can’t not do the fist pump!!😲

That’s how Manager & Fans engage, it how you build a sense of togetherness, positivity and that buzz around the place that creates the platform for success.

Our fans need to drive out this negativity and jump on the bus…. We’re either in wholeheartedly or we’re not in at all…

There can be no half measures 👍👍

Obviously upto Simon as he pays the bills at the end of the day but I was personally bored senseless by his style of play before he left…… hope it’s a bit more exciting this time round 🤔🙄
What is it with Sadler and ex Pool Managers returning?
Grayson, Appleton, Critchley. 🤷‍♂️
I suppose we could have done a lot worse Who next Wor Lee, Ince, McPhillips?
I just can’t believe we’ve gone back in for someone who left us in the lurch and pretty much overnight started the relegation dog fight battle that was last season.
Far better managers out there and some we’re interviewed.
Sorry but for me it’s put a real dampener on things tonight. 👎

He should cartwheel several times until he reaches The North Stand Muckers and as he lands for the final time on his feet start fist pumping with both hands at once whilst jumping up and down

Me too & Dobbs must be disappointed.
SS had best support Critchley with a very good assistant, sports director & player budget to rebuild the team or he's got no chance of succeeding.
No pressure there, then. If people are thinking expectation is high now, think of how it'll be when it has been ratcheted up several notches by the start of the season. I just hope SS has the courage of his convictions, for without that, I fear we could be in for rather a rocky ride. Understatement of the year, but it's gonna be fascinating to see how things pan out.

Personally I'll be happy with us starting off with a few fistable performances acknowledged via modest clapping to the faithful👍

Dougall scored two not one in the play off final.
What a night that was.
Absolute nonsense post, are you insane?
Dougall is easily good enough for league 1, he was a major part of our promotion. As soon as he arrived we started winning, you have a short memory.
When you are in the championship with a couple of kids alongside you, you are not going to look good. He is a great player, I hope he gets a new contract.
This is great news for the club, I just hope the spoilers get behind him.

listening to the interview ss makes sense . If he hadn't have been here before he would still have been a leading candidate .
