Anyone going away for Xmas ..

Must say I would love to be somewhere hot and sunny so I don't have to be washing the dishes during Call the Midwife, acting as a taxi for relatives, queuing for hours at a bar and in the shops and more importantly being nowhere near the country to be tempted to watch Blackpool over the Xmas/New Year period!

Home for christmas and new year but away in between at Harworth near Doncaster for my daughters birthday. Back in time for the Lincoln match though.

Not this year as its my turn to look after my mum as we all take a turn, usually try to get away with recent Christmas's been in Chicago, Toronto and Copenhagen and loved them all.

I DID once enjoy XMAS day on the beach. Circa 1964 . Adelaide Australia. still getting the sand out. Cos i was a ten pound pomegranet. just a smaller version.

Away just before & including New Year in Keswick unless the river Greta floods the campsite, really looking forward to it. I'm keeping an eye on the river levels all ok ATM.

I was going to come tomorrow, which is away for me, but the damned clutch has gone on the car. Another £500.

Normally go away Christmas/New year but having Grandkids staying so going 2nd week in Jan for a couple of warm weeks in Teegypt instead…

I suspect there may be a few on here off to Hans Christian Anderson's hometown of Copenhagen as they're clearly away with the fairies

Was in Cape verde last year for Xmas... loved the sun but ultimately it just wasn't the same. Can see why people go away after and new year but for me Xmas will be spend at home with family.

Home, but possibility of snow, so looking good. Pop down to thank the local reindeer on Christmas Day, we are lucky to live where many come to holiday.

Not Christmas Day but fly to Madeira on Boxing Day til new year
We went last year and it was great
The fireworks on New Year’s Eve are spectacular
Is Madeira nice.? I am going on the 19th January to run the half marathon on the 21st.

Donegal for me. You can't beat New Year on a freezing cold Atlantic beach with 3000 miles between you and the nearest land. Then again...

It’s a beautiful place. This will be my 5th visit. Plenty to do especially if you like walking. There are Levada walks to suit every fitness level, and the mountain area is absolutely stunning
You can do guided walks but I’ve hired a car so we can do our walks as I prefer to walk at quite a fast pace
I’m staying at a place called Machico this year as there’s some walking in the extreme east of the island I’m keen to do
This summer we went from Madeira to a fabulous little island called Porto Santo that was great, and flew on to Lisbon from there

Where are you staying?
We are stopping at the Girassol Suite Hotel in Funchal apparently not far from the Maritimo football ground who have a local derby with AC National while we are there so hoping to get tickets. Going to do that trek to the highest mountain on the island and also walk the water courses and go to the tropical gardens. Really looking forward to it.

Going to stay in an Airbnb cottage near Hexham for the first 5 days in the New Year week with the missus so the kids can see Hadrian's wall.

We stayed very close to there last year. You’re in the Lido area, which is great. It’s about a 20 min walk into Funchal itself.
A walk to Camero de Lobos is worth it- maybe 45 mins each way from where you are. Purported to be Winton Churchill’s favourite holiday destination

A week in Italy in the mountains - can't beat a white Christmas especially on a snowboard. And not missing any home games as fly out on Christmas eve.

Cheers mate

Heading to Tenerife on Saturday .. used to love a UK Christmas with the football but a bit of sun and watching Pool on a laptop in my budgie smugglers is more me these days!

Not a chance.

Only one place to be over Xmas.

The Gold Coast !

Entertainment and cultural capital of Europe, birth place of Jesus Christ and home of the first Balon d’Or winner …

Not sure how they can manage a half marathon if it’s in Funchal itself given how hilly and steep the place is😂
Lovely place mind you with a lot to see……especially if you do the “ basket run”😉

Just looked at the route so no steep climbs by the look of it,believe me if it were uphill you’d need to be a fell running athlete 🏃🏃🏃⛰️⛰️⛰️
