Just been reading the Sunderland message board. They were praising Appleton and think he is a good manager. Give credit where its due, whatever he said at half time was inspired. We looked really good second half and the turnaround was startling. We should have won that. On another point, the sunderland mob were praising our fans support. Well done again lads.

The thing is, whilst he’s responsible for getting a reaction to his words at half time he’s also responsible for sending the players out in the right mindset at kickoff also. And so far this season I’m not sure we’ve played a game where you can consider us to have given a solid 90 minute performance. That’s a concern to me.

Aye, well done for doing half a job Appleton. 🙄

How does a football post become a political one? There is a separate board for politics, as long as you are compliant and don't have your post pulled without explanation.

Back to football, I agree with the Sunderland fans, he is a good manager and things will pick up.

Give a dog a bad name.

I agree with the first part of this. The best managers never critisize either the team or individuals publically. Once they do that they look like they are trying to cover their own backs and will undoubtedly lose the dressing room. Bollocking them privately is completely another matter. I remember saying when Appleton was appointed that he would have considerably less time to prove himself than other managers given his background and so it is proving to be. Personally I think it is far too early to judge him. He had little time to pick up the reigns, he lost Bowler and a lot of incoming transfers failed to materialise. He has to work with what he is given like it or not. I certainly think he had a positive effect against Sunderland and I feel the team are gradually improving. I will give him a break.

He doesn't need to go but we have to start getting points, we can't go into the new year in the relegation zone losing to XYZ and going, well we played ok.

Yep… He’s a good coach, with good players and best of all he is working at one of the best Clubs in the Championship.

We really ought to be beating Clubs like Sunderland mind you. They’ve got out of L1 by the skin of their teeth really and their fans are very miserable. We probably gave them a bit too much respect early in the game…

He won't get a break from me, not until he stops moaning, talking the club down and can actually coach a team to a 90min performance. Until then, I will continue to question his appointment.
A bit hypocritical when you call out someone for moaning. If he is speaking the truth ,which he seems to be or do you want him to lie ,and in respect to a full 90 minute performance , you may as well go and support Manchester city because they are the only ones that are getting close. So carry on being critical ,you are doing the club a lot of good.

If you're content for him to continually make excuses, put the club down and drag the team backwards, then keep to your happy clapping, everything is wonderful world.

It's a message board, people are allowed differing views. If I believe he's the wrong man and eventually enough see the same and that results in getting a better manager, the cub will benefit. Or where you one of those who sat idly by whilst the Oystons nearly destroyed our club?

Lincoln fans liked him

No . Prefer fist pumpers and mad men from Bristol

NewburyOne is a board lover and won’t dare to question the lack of investment they’re giving the playing side of things which will, in turn, help out MA.

So, I imagine, he would like MA to do exactly what the board does and lie to fans.

Yes ,different views . So you have your view ,even though he never had the budget of other teams . Hes had a number of injuries and in most games we have matched our opposition apart from our strikers finishing . My view is, I will criticise him when we are in the bottom 3 after Christmas . Then he will deserve it.

I never wanted Appleton to get the job and when I feel that he deserves the criticism he is getting from some fans ,I will be there with them . I also believe that Appleton should be given a chance and some fans who are blinkered do not seem to want to do that. We have a limited budget compared to some teams , we have had our fair share of injuries and suspensions and we have matched most teams on the pitch . He then tells it like it is and gets criticised for that. Maybe he should do what Crichley did and tell us we played well when we didn't and tell us that he loves the club.

Clubs and fans have got stop this knee jerk reaction to sacking managers….. not every team in the league can win on match day. Collectively, we have had a very poor start to season in results, preparation, contracts , players in and players out, etc, etc…. this in not MA fault - if fans want to wag the finger - point it in the direction of the board and the fake that is Critchley! The way he left wasn’t ‘cricket’ and left us right in the shit! For me, we really should have got a decent loan from villa, but the compo was trousered instead! Could have been handled so much better from all sides.

How dare you insinuate that the board & SS are at fault!! Do you not realise that we have got our club back??

Good god.

(Please, sense the sarcasm.) 🤣

Appleton seems to be a decent coach that’s for sure and there’s also no doubt that he’s been unlucky with injuries and let down a bit with recruitment.

If anything concerns me (and always has) it’s his man management skills, motivational and leadership qualities. Hopefully he can address these concerns over time.

There’s absolutely no chance whatsoever that “getting rid” of him should be something that we are thinking about at this stage…. It’s far to early and a) He’s simply not had the right players available and b) We look like we may be turning a corner..

Personally given our circumstances and barring a complete collapse, we should back him for the season at a bare minimum.

As fans we need to just focus on how best we can get behind him and the team during games and play our part in inspiring the confidence and belief the players need to win games.

Skoda make some great cars. The days of being embarrassed driving a Skoda are long gone.

I suppose if you’ve got no option, then a Skoda it is. I don’t know anyone who buys them out of choice tbh.
I'm not buying any car with a plastic intake manifold, especially at the inflated prices of Skoda, VW, BMW and Audi, weight saving my arse.

Then again I still won't own a car with an engine cover, I might be slightly odd and old fashioned.

And that is your right as a fan, I do agree the recruitment wasn't ideal and the number of injuries has been cruel. That said, he's still not got the best out of the players available to him, he continually plays players out of position to suit his formation and I've lost count of the times we've been utterly garbage and passive in games. Would I have been more patient with Rosenior, or any manager who has a bit more positivity, quite probably. I don't expect Sadler to get rid yet, I suspect that will be a bigger question at the end of October.

4 year contract ,we would have to get relegated before he gets the boot.
