Ballard Out

Well they knew this was coming with gretarsson already out. To have not brought someone in by now is a real mistake .

May as well go all out attack.

3-4-3

Turton Ekpiteta Husband

Gabriel Virtue Dougall Garbutt

Yates Madine Kaikai

Could actually work out as a very good side....
That actually looks like an exciting gamble that could be a 5-0 demolishon job... Or a 5-0 thumping 😅

Not read all the above, but what the matter of the Viking & Egg potato? as centre backs?
Gretarson is already injured. So that means with this news we have the following players ruled out:
- Ballard
- Gretarson
- Hamilton
- Anderson
- Mitchell (covid)

I believe Ward/Lubala are in doubt as well. Going to be a stretch..

He got a real battering on Saturday and played superbly, I would guess a knock rather than Covid related. We can't afford to risk him if it really sets him back. We may need a centre Half this window we are really in short supply unless he gives Thorniley the shirt.

As I've replied to many others saying we need this that and the other.
What evidence have you got that suggests that Critchley hasn't been trying to get a centre half in?

Give Thorniley a chance ffs. I think it’s been forgotten that we actually paid decent money for him. I remember Monk saying Wednesday received an offer they couldn’t refuse. For him to be rotting on the bench/barely in the squad isn’t helping anyone
Then it's up to player to prove himself in training, he had his chances and been awful sorry if you can't be trusted bye.

May as well go for it and see.

We dont score a lot so can only try, Garbutt and Gabriel flying forward on attack but back for defending.

I just get the feeling it would work.

3 up front, lots of chances and share some goals around.

It would allow Yates and kaikai to cut inside and play through them rather than punt to an isolated Madine, without the worry of being exposed on the wings on a break.

I like it, and I hope its something he's looked into.

Ballard seems to get more than his share of injuries. Is too much being asked of a relatively inexperienced 21 year old to be our centre back kingpin? He does put 100% into every challenge which brings the risk of injury. Experience will help him to read the game better and avoid unnecessary challenges.

I'd play KK alongside Madine and tell him to run his bollux off. Yates behind. Ward could play in his proper position as a winger, or even where I'm proposing Yates. With no Ballard and poss no Greta, Turton has to play RB- the defence will need all the help it can get.

I'd like to see some analysis on the premise that he's not a LSCB.

I take your point in that he hasn't been playing on his preferred side, but his game is based around being robust and tackling. A good player with the potential to play at a higher level.
As I say I'd like to see more analysis, but I'd be certain he's stronger tackling with his right leg and on his right side.

This is what ive fancied going with for a little while. Gives the likes of Gabriel, and Mitchell (when fit) a little bit more license to bomb forward while hoping that we would still have cover at the back for any gaps. Id be tempted to play Turton instead of Williams, and Ward fir KaiKai (Dougall Virtue and Ward in the middle). Would have to be Gabriel and Garbutt tonight mind, which gives us more of a chance from set pieces. Give a couple of the youth lads a go, and if we are 2/3 up with ten to play, get them on to experience first team football more, we may well be needing them depending on how the transfer window goes.

I would expect so. Ekpiteta has done enough to keep his position. Arsenal will be expecting him to play regularly just the same. I think Gretarsson is our best lcb.
