Banks

At first, I was sceptical of the credentials of the claims from InsiderFutbol, but then I saw all the quotes and substantiation.

It could be due to the terms of the deal, which was a glorified loan (if he was any good Palace could buy him back), we have renewed our interest in Moxon.

This stinks of Nixon covering his back because his story hasn’t followed through. I don’t doubt for a second Nixon is fed crumbs of info and the majority of what he reports is genuine, but he clearly takes the little he’s told and makes out like he’s much more in the picture than he actually is.

I wonder if they might try and agree a loan until January with a view to a permanent deal. Gives both parties the option to pull out if it doesn`t work out for them? Takes out some of the risk for club and player.

Even if the deal has stalled, we could've pulled out of the deal because a better target has emerged.

The Bradford fans reviews of him weren't exactly glowing, and 600k is a big sum for somebody unproven at our level

With Moxon refusing to sign a new contract right now, 600k could get in him in the coming weeks. Although he's not proven at this level either, he certainly had the better season last season.

Nombe isnt likely to come to us i suspect. If he leaves Exeter there will be a lot of interest and we'd lose out.

I dont see us investing 1M in Nombe, at this stage now we are looking at deals for 2 or 3 players that will enhance our 18
match day squad. Critchley wants better quality across the board raising the standard overall. Investing 1M in one player
aint going to happen.

Not bothered either way, our squad is good enough . Any player joining us has to be as good or better than we’ve got.The names being bandied about DONT fit that MO. Let’s wait for an Ellis Simms or similar on loan.

Better to have 1 top centre forward than 3 might be good players. I think we could make play offs with a proper player up front.

Seems like Blackburn are the Championship club who have nipped in and pinched him from under our noses.

Perhaps Blackpoolfc got his Pool and Burn mixed up. 🤣
That comes from Nixon so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. It would explain the snag. I've no idea if Blackburn have matched our offer or prefer a loan. They've just sold 2 players for nearly £5M so if they are interested, I highly doubt he'll be coming to us. The hope is that he's moving for 1st team football and there are no guarantees he'll get that with Blackburn in the Championship.

Annoying but understandable.

Nixon is a ** bitch and I blame this one on him.

We definitely had agreed all terms, but the information he puts out is certainly spoon fed from the agent in order to drum up interest, no doubt in my mind Blackburn have seen how cheap Banks would be and put in a late bid.

Nixon had also been pushing his name for WEEKS now. Two weeks ago Stockport were in, then we’re in, and now Blackburn, his role is so slimy.

(Yeah I know that’s how the business works but I still blame him)

We had a similar situation with Norburn and Bolton, ended up coming out on top.

If you were in Banks’ shoes, what would you do?

A) Move up 2 divisions in a very good Championship side. Possibly spend most of the season on the bench and hamper your development, leading to no permanent deal.

B) Get a move to a top team in the league above, far more likely to get game time and be in a position to get promoted at the end of the season.

Agreed, if money is similar, which it very may well not be since it’s Blackburn, he should chose to play for us.

But even if there’s more money on the table I’d still choose us for development purposes.

But if it’s only a loan then he will be stuck on his existing deal, I would hope at the very least we will match his current contract!

That's not how anyone other than Blackpool fans would see the choice though. He'll back himself and see it as an opportunity to play Champo footy at a big club, albeit one in some financial trouble.

If it was happening it would have happened by now.

As I said previously, just put the money in the pot for a striker, perhaps Nombe?

And who knows? With a top striker Critchly may have a new LWB on hi hands!!

Sheer Blackpool bias this, I'm afraid.

Players don't often think like that, most young players will think they can play at a higher level and would jump at the chance to play at as high a level as possible. Agents don't offer good advice, they're just in it for the money so unless there's others offering sound advice, it's unlikely he'd even consider a move to L1 if a championship side show an interest.

I think the bigger question is whether Palace are interested in a loan, or would rather cash-in now.

A) Every time if your a player and you have aspirations to play at a much higher level.

If Blackburn are interested then he will choose them and ultimately there’s not a lot we can do. They are in the championship and he will fancy himself to get in their team. Move on to the next target.

No new info in that story.

It’s hit a snag only if you take Nixon at his word that everything was agreed last weekend.

All smoke and mirrors, I trust Critchley and the recruitment team to do what’s best.
Only "SUGGESTED" that an offer had been agreed....
