Banks

Rovers regularly progress young players into the first team and have great facilities and coaching set up. Banks will likely believe he's good enough. It's all just Nixonbabble at the moment though. Who knows whats really happening?

You have to think about the pathway to the higher level, though, is warming the bench and maybe playing a bit of PL2 a better pathway than first XI in a league below?
Players don’t think like that though they see the bigger picture of a bigger club, a bigger club in the championship, bigger wages (if it’s not a loan) prospects/pathways come way down the list I’m afraid.
The Bowler sale is a classic example of club/wages come first before anything else.

Only "SUGGESTED" that an offer had been agreed....
Think it’s most likely that Banks’ agent has been feeding Nixon the info directly to spark interest and it may have worked, but who knows.

Regardless it seems obvious we are in the market for another attacker and have the funds to do so.

I’m fed up with the messing about. Banks was pretty much a nobody until the last ten days. Go back for Moxon. He may cost £100k more but HE IS the better player!
If he doesn’t want to come or Carlisle want silly money, Critch will have to look at loans.
And it’s time bloody Nixon got laryngitis.
PS: I thought the first 45+9 mins yesterday were the best I’ve seen of us over the last 12 months.

But probably the weakest opposition we’ve played over the last 12 months.

It sounds like Blackburn want a loan deal, with an agreed fee. Unless the fee is bigger than what we have offered, it's unlikely Palace will favour that deal. It will have muddied the waters though, we just have to stay patient, a bit like the Moxon deal. The closer the deadline comes and the more likely players will want their futures sorted.

If the rumours that BR are after him on loan are correct, that changes things.

From the Blackburn message board:

We were in for Banks a couple of weeks ago, but Blackpool jumped in front of us.

So either Nixon has it the wrong way around, or we’ve gone back in for him now that we have a few quid in our pockets.

I think it was said at the time that Stockport and us were interested in a permanent move, and an unnamed Championship club were after him on loan, Stockport have likely dropped out, the rest is unchanged.

“We just have to stay patient.”

110% agree.

A lot of people on here argue that we need to stop “dicking around” with transfers but the reality is that this is how a good club conducts business, with patience.

Why would we immediately pay the fee a club initially says they want when that fee is A) bigger than what the player is worth and B) there are other factors such as a player being on their last year that put pressure on a club to not get exactly what they want.

We simply don't have the funds to go silly with bids. It's clear we are identifying young players with potential. Some will see the value of trusting their immediate future at a club like Blackpool under a coach like Critchley. Without wishing to be too arrogant, we already have a decent squad and our early fixtures should get us off to a decent start. Hopefully that allows the club a bit of extra time to recruit the right players. We will be fine. 😬
