Barton interview

Constantly saying how it’s a derby and how we think it’s a derby when we beat them but when they beat us it’s not a derby. Blames last years loss on Crellin (seem to remember fleetwood fans having a go at Evatt not so long ago) and keeps referring to us as the big spenders. Think you should look at your wage bill Joey cause Coutts, Duffy, Mulgrew and whelan won’t be on pennies.

Stick his interviews on the dressing room wall before the march and read it out to the players.

He loves the mind games does Joey. Normally it does him no good at all so let's hope it's the case again. One things for sure, if we lose I'll be avoiding listening to his after match interview like the plague.

The only thing I like about him is he spoke out and slated the Oystains at the time

I dont like Barton as a person but no one can deny that he's doing a good job at Fleetwood. They should be pushing playoffs again this year. I do think he runs his mouth too much though and that bites him on the backside sometimes. Wycombe in the play offs springs to mind.

I hope the referee takes notice of Barton desire for a street fight, we should just play around them and maybe with the language being used it would be a good game for Husband to miss

Is he speaking in french or English? Don’t want to listen to him. Hope we stuff them for all sorts of reasons but the biggest to shut bully boy Barton up.
It didn’t say that mods! It was a rearrangement of the word

I was thinking the same thing. They'll be out to wind him up for sure, especially as an ex Cod.

I don't mind Joey Barton if I'm honest, like others have said he spoke out and had to go to court (where he had to pay a 5 figure sum) after speaking out against the Oystons - so in that regard he'll have my respect.

Here is the transcript of his interview:

On the opposition…

“I’m really looking forward to the game, really looking forward to it. I think Blackpool go into the game as the favourites due to their recent form and it’s very rare that we have gone into a game as the underdogs. I think they have won seven out of the last eight, albeit there are some EFL Trophy and FA Cup games in there, but still, they are winning more than they are losing.

“We know that in the local derby, their fans don’t consider it a derby unless they win and if we beat them, they don’t consider it so, and it sets up for us to bounce back from a disappointing result, albeit not a disappointing performance.

“They’ve been on a good run so it will be good two good sides, Colin Calderwood has gone in as Critchley’s assistant, who is a good friend of mine, and a great coach who I worked with at Newcastle. There’s no doubt that they will make them a better side because he’s a good man and a better coach and we are going to have to be the best version of ourselves if we are going to get anything out of the game.”

On derby expectations…

“I think form goes out the window in a derby, whether that be home form or any form, so it will be whoever wins the street fight. That’s a derby game, it’ll be whoever wins the fight so once the fight comes to an end, both sides can end up settling down and playing football.

“It will be a physical encounter; it will be who handles the physicality in the early part of the game in the right manner and then whoever earns the right to play after that. If they win the right to play, they’ve got some good players and if we win the right to play, we’ve got some good players.

“They are a few points behind us in the table and they will want to win to get above us and we need to win to get back on the form we’ve been on as of late. Is there a favourite in a derby game? We expect to win the game. They’ve got more tradition and prestige, but we expect to win every game in the league, that’s my expectation.”

😂😂 he’s absolutely spot on about our fans who will completely downplay the derby element should Fleetwood win.

I love the fact that we have an opposition manager who I utterly detest. Would've hated it if say Evatt had gone to the Cods. He is an utterly reprehensible greasy haired idiot (and a Ginger Blackpool fan has little time for him either 😉 )
