I saw a play a few years ago at the Edinburgh Fringe about Saville, the part of Saville being played by Alistair McGowan but the story was from the viewpoint of a young girl who had been abused. Strangely, In equal measures it was both shocking and funny at the same time.I see the BBC intend to make a TV “drama” or whatever they want to call it about Jimmy Saville.
Who in their right mind would want to watch this as so called entertainment.
And Steve Coogan is going to play the part....says it all.
The establishment support he received, Thatcher, Prince Charles and The BBC etc behind him was amazing with even the young girls family not believing her was so sad.
You might not like it, but the story needs to be told warts and all. McGowan’s performance as the man who thought himself untouchable, which he was till his death, was brilliant and portrayed the power he had over everyone, and after all, Saville himself took us all in with his “Uncle Jim” persona.
