Beesley an anomaly

He was superb today. Won plenty in the air, chased lost causes, worked his socks off.

Have to say I thought his season was virtually done after his poor cameo against Bromley but a bit of luck with Lavery getting injured and a bit of faith from the manager and he’s back in the squad, and certainly justified his place today.

Slightly fortunate with the first one but he was in the right area. Second was a quality run, touch, and finish. Great ball from Joseph too.

So many positives today and his individual performance was right up there.

Prolific. 2nd top goal scorer this season

How would you describe his performance?
Bang average against an absolutely crap team. He scored from half a yard when it was harder to miss than score and took his second ok but blimey are our standards that low that that’s our standard for superb nowadays? We’ll go nowhere if Beesley plays every week he’s just not good enough and 2 goals against a pub team changes nothing. He’s league 2 conference at best unfortunately, front two should always be Rhodes Joseph or Rhodes Lavery.

And yes we won, but take the opposition into account we were still pedestrian and painful to watch for most of the game in my opinion and I didn’t come away thinking anything other than it was a bit boring, how crap they were and that if he persists with Beesley Dale the best we could hope for would be to scrape into the play offs when we have the players and the squad to get automatic if he took the handbrake off

He can take great confidence from his brace today, a good option to have in the squad. Maybe won’t be a strongest XI pick but we need a good squad of players to push each other upwards.
Didn't he also score 2 against Derby?

I was waiting for the first negative post and you didn’t disappoint
Why the fuck do you bother going (if in fact you do) when all you can do do is pick holes in what was an overall good performance and you call it a bit boring.
As for your opinion of what should “always” be the front two after we’ve have had such a good result speaks volumes as to just how little you know.
It is irrelevant who the opposition is because you have to play who is in front of you.

When it comes to it, you can only beat the opposition in front of you. Shrewsbury were absolutely awful, and we did what we had to do to win, and we did it comfortably. Beeley and Joseph seem quite similar in so much as they are a bit ungainly . But if they can keep scoring like they did today. Then all power to them.

Well it was pretty boring I won’t lie. And I suspect a lot will agree with me. I went with 3 others and we were all underwhelmed with it all. The atmosphere and attendances don‘t lie, every game another 100 don’t go, even Sadler doesn’t turn up anymore. Pleased we won but I don’t know we’re just not a likeable team in my opinion, a hard team to warm to. Personally think it’s because everything we do is one paced, kicking towards our fans and we’re playing it around at the back despite winning 4 nil, we’re supposed to be in the entertainment industry.

Get off the fence, tell us how you really feel

We’ve just won 4-0 mate

What a miserable bastard

Think he may have been sat near me. Constant moaning from the first minute.
'Stop passing it sideways, get it forward', instantly followed by 'Hoofball, is that all we do?'

Deranged.

I'm now singing 'And now you'll hear us whinging from the stands at Bloomfield Rd'.

Didn't take the hint though.

Do you actually believe what you write? I know you like the phrase take the handbrake off. Hard to be always Rhodes and other 2 cos they are injured a lot. Why do you take such an interest in something that gives you so much misery?

It just shows you can't write people off after a few performances, especially when as a team we weren't playing great at that time. He's shown some quality moments, some poor too but has also been coming back injury at one point.

There wasn't much service to the strikers early season.

What I liked about Beesley getting picked today it showed the significance of cup games.

Critch did the same with Kouassi after he scored a hatrick against Liverpool u21 then he played on Saturday.

Gives the whole squad confidence you play well whatever game and you'll get a go next time then it's up to you.
Superb man management from NC. Same goes for keeping faith with Marv after his good performance V Bolton. Builds confidence & trust in the whole squad.

Also, Critchley does generally improve players.

Dougall is back to his best but looks a better player for his time in the championship too, better on the ball.

Not saying he is a first team player but he should never have been pushed down the pecking order by Kouassi. Kouassi is a development player whereas Beesley is a seasoned pro who knows where the back of the net.

He was prime for a start with his goals on Tuesday. Played well i thought. His running in behind was better than his aerial threat. His hold up play was good. 8/10.

We controlled the game, nullified the opposition and passed the ball pretty well, bar a few occasions where we could have done better. Some well worked goals.

They were only 4 points behind us before the game. Poor today but also made to look so by a dominant display.

They are possibly an average league 1 side, of which we've got many more to face soon. Which is a great opportunity for a good run.

We just won 4-0 and completely dominated, what is wrong with you?

He played well last time he started with Rhodes, it’s seems to work as a pairing.

I still believe he’s our Graeme Hick. Perfect for battering lesser teams in the division and in the cup, but would struggle against the top teams. Today would buy him the starting shirt next match. You have to reward performances like that.

Surely he can't be dropped
4 goals in 2 games
We started on the front foot with a high press, Beesley was all over them. Great performance, 1st goal very lucky TBF

The formation looked tweaked to me too?
It was a clear 3 up front as opposed to a front two with a 10 behind.

We lined up 3-4-3 today which often meant we had 5 attackers in a line and Carey and Kenny behind in midfield.

Nicely done

He’s big enough and has a bit of pace. I think sometimes he lacks a bit of intelligence on where to be when he’s close in with a defender and finds himself in the wrong position to win anything.

He’s still learning though and has had two good games. Big test for him next week.

I'll bet there's nobody in the squad works harder than Beesley to improve himself.
To be honest he's not the most naturally talented footballer in the squad but he gives his all and that's starting to pay off.
Well done today Jake, you deserve the plaudits, another to put on the list of players I've slagged off that have made me eat my words.
He looked a good fit with Rhodes, just need to fit Joeph in now.

Some people honestly have not got a clue at football. They would be better off just staying in and watch match of the day for the highlights of another game.

Twerp

I’d written him off, but those 4 goals this week have been a pleasant surprise.
We need someone to take the pressure off Rhodes.
Also, Joseph looking class for this level.

I’ve always liked Beesley I think he’d be more integrated into the squad now had it not been for his injury and with Joseph coming back and making his mark we‘ve got some competition for places up front. I liked the formation yesterday dembele was played where he is most effective let’s hope not too many changes are made for Portsmouth it’s no good going down there playing 1 up front and hoping for a draw.

OK, Jake Beesley might not be the most talented footballer around, he may well be playing at a level a bit above his ability. But, he's a trier, 4 goals in two games is a decent return, he can't chose the opposition, he just has to turn up and do his job, which he did with bells on. Why can't some just be happy with that? He's had a horrendous time with injury last season and is still playing himself back in.

Who else could we picked yesterday instead of him? Lavery and Kouassi both injured and Joseph still on the recovery road meant that Beesley was an automatic choice.
Two goals yesterday won't do him any harm at all and he seems to be able to play alongside Rhodes, let's just be bloody glad we've got him to fill in the gaps, well played Bees 👍

I’ve read all the posts on this thread and there isn’t one single poster in agreement with your unjustified negative comments.
I suppose you will say that doesn’t matter though.
I’ll bet you are a bundle of fun when you go out with your 3 mates.
As for the atmosphere, WTF are you talking about?

Being in the wrong place will soon be corrected playing alongside Rhodes. Thats if Beesley is prepared to watch, listen and learn, which I believe he is.👍

Rhodes is forever shouting, pointing and advising. I really noticed it yesterday - his experience and know how shines through.
