Beesley an anomaly

Rhodes is forever shouting, pointing and advising. I really noticed it yesterday - his experience and know how shines through.
Yep. The locker room experienced head, knows the ins and outs of the game and how to score goals, which nicely picks up where Madine left off.

Bees has only had 13 league starts and 6 sub appearances for us since he signed in Jan 22, nearly two years ago. And scored four league goals. Two in his first start for us, and two on Saturday. It's not a great return on the investment, he's been unfortunate with injury. He needs a period free of injury, and regular games, which would enable him to show what he's capable of.

People seem to be forgetting how slow he is and this is his major problem . Things in the main dont come off because of it and its his thought process as well .He just has no snap in his play at all and will never be any good he hasnt got it . Yes he may score the odd goal especially against poor slow defences but he is so slow its painfull to watch

Not sure I agree. He’s not ‘quick’ but he’s not slow either. He’s also quite sharp, has good movement and gets himself into good positions. Look at the first goal versus Morecambe and the second against Shrewsbury - that takes speed of thought, great positioning and top notch reaction times. If he can learn from Rhodes whilst he’s around he could be a late developer and lack of straight line speed really won’t be an issue.

His passing and vision is also quite impressive. He creates chances and unlike quite a few players his flick ons and hold up play results in balls which are actually moved forwards and to supporting players with intent as opposed to hope.

One thing we need to think about is the likes of Marvin, Keshi, Yates and CJ - none of whom had ever done much at a decent level but Critchley managed to turn into Championship players. It’s not where the players been at or the stats which are the mark of a player but the attributes and the ability to improve. Critchley clearly saw something in Beesley and was glowing in praise for his development first time around and has been since coming back too

Beesley seems a great lad and a strong character and the squad needs those characters. He's not a first name on the teamsheet but he is a variation up front. His main issue is that he's only had 19 league appearances and scored in two league games since signing nearly two years ago, due to injury mainly. The Championship is probably a step too far for him but he looks like he can do a job for us in this division, and I didn't think that a couple of weeks ago. He didn't look like scoring during his run in the side at the start of the season, had very few attempts at goal. He's now looking better, in an improved team that supports the strikers better, and we need him at the minute with Lavery and Kouassi both out for a while and Joseph just making tentative steps. Five strikers but only ever two fit!
