Beesley

Once Jospeh returns and with Kouassi and Dembele knocking on the door as well as Dale and Lavery - is there a place for him anymore?

He has the right physique, talks a good game, is often in the right places but there is something about him that just doesn't click. Thought he had OK games at home earlier in the season but he was especially awful at Wycombe.

And all this Joseph stuff.... everyone is a Joseph expert all of a sudden.....
Beesley has has a hellish time with injuries.....6 or 7 games in and all our experts are writing him off....1 good game and Kouassi is the new Messiah......

A bit of balance please......as usual, off the deep end with no real chance given to a player!

Also, do you not think these lads read this board from time to time and its unhelpful to be honest.

We're all allowed an opinion but a balanced one is preferential.

Have to agree that many on here seem to think that Joseph is gonna be the second coming, we haven’t even seen him yet so what are they basing this on?

When everybody is fit he should be nowhere near the starting 11
We keep writing players off, last season Dale and Casey were crap today MOM contenders.
CJ regularly gets pelters but on his day defenders cannot cope with his pace.
If Rhodes gets injured he might well be needed. Derby next and he has scored 2 against them this season.

I think his non-inclusion spoke volumes yesterday - biggest mistake over summer for me was not letting him go and having a like for like replacement - I know people will now point to Kouassi and Rhodes (and Joseph!) but to hit the ground running we should have let Beasley go and brought in another.

Agreeing with you is like finding hens teeth. But, here you're bob on.

Yeah if Rhodes gets injured he may be needed. But like I said, when everybody is fit he shouldn't be anywhere near

I think that right now he's down the pecking order.
Last season we had a ridiculously unlucky season with long term injuries.
Were Beesley to be called upon, I would know that at the very least he would be working his socks off for the team,he's an awkward opponent and that he can score goals.

Rarely has a team had a Shearer to replace a Shearer.
Beesley is a good back up and who knows, with some coaching from NC and JR he can definitely improve.

I still think he can do a job for us . When we bought him he was playing very well for a struggling league 1 team .
Struggling League 2 team*

Rochdale finished 18th in League 2 the season we signed him.

Always looked a strange signing on paper given that we were in the Championship at the time, yet bizarrely I think he looked better in the Champ than he has so far at League 1 level (with the exception of those games where Appleton played him as a left winger 😂)

He is still young enough to develop to be an effective striker for us. Yes he’s been poor mainly this season, hence he is now out of favour but then people were clamouring for Casey to be released pre season too.

Players form can come and go at this level. Younger players particularly struggle for consistency and lower league younger players even more so.

He's 26 so not a kid any more. But he's been unlucky with injuries and barely had a decent run of games for us since he signed 22 months ago.

He scored 6 goals in 16 games in League 1 at the end of the 20/21 season for Rochdale in a relegation team. He seems to have forgotten how to score goals. It's likely a combination of confidence and playing in a side that hasn't been creating many chances this season. He's had very few attempts at goal.

Nombe hasn't scored yet this season in 11 appearances. Scoring goals is down to getting chances and confidence as well as ability. Beesley's record suggest he can get goals at this level if the chances and confidence are there. It might still happen for him but he's dropped down the pecking order again. Was maybe in the team at the wrong time, the misfiring 532.

So we have Lavery who is becoming a concern re injuries, Joseph also potentially a sick note , Rhodes who has been brilliant but is no spring chicken, and maybe will need resting on occasion, then Kouassi who is a bit of an unknown although promising. Is that sufficient for us to manage without Beesley? 🤷‍♂️

Totally agree regards a loan.
He reminds me a bit of a young Barkhuisen, not strong enough to be a target man and not quite quick enough to play off such a player. But he is still learning and the one thing he lacks is a run of games.
Really quote "Preston North End's pace ace Tom Barkhuizen is among the leading speed merchants in world football, according to EA Sports. The firm have released the top 20 fastest players in FIFA 20 and North End's own frontman is among the (ahem) pace-setters.18 Sept 2019"

Thanks Voy. I didn’t google his age so yes older than I considered. That said - they’ll decide on him this season for sure. If it’s not now, then not worth retaining.

We don’t want to put too much expectation on Kouassi too early but what he brings is physicality which for whatever reason Beesley seems to lack. I will reserve judgement on Joseph until he actually plays.

When it clicks for him he will get bags full. It sometimes happens like that at certain clubs, look at DJ. Could not hit a bard door at Leicester and was on fire for us.

Newcastle had Shearer, Tino Asprilla and Les Ferdinand. Pretty decent, that's pretty decent back up
