Being 21 and up for it!

Probably a bit different but have just read Critchley's thoughts on Ballard playing today.
When I was 21, I was in the building industry and worked from Portugal and I'd do a full shift on a Friday for 10 hours, fly home, get out for last orders and still be up at 8am to get the coach for the football side I was playing for at the time (at a decent level) and put a shift in no problem. I realise International football is a different kettle of fish but the lad is 21 - leave it for him to decide if he plays.

With James Husband and Marvin Ekpiteta both injured, Pool fans are hoping Ballard will be available for today’s 3pm kick-off.
But Critchley suggested the 21-year-old is unlikely to feature from the start at the County Ground.
Pool’s head coach said: “I watched the game on Wednesday and I spoke to him before to wish him luck.
“Obviously I wanted him to play well and win the game but also I wanted him to come through with no problems, no injuries.

Totally agree. Assuming he's fit ... I'd play him.

21 year olds should be able to play 3 games in a week.

I suppose as an Arsenal player there will be a little bit of responsibility to look after the player. I have no doubt Ballard could play 90 minutes without missing a beat but for all we know his parent club may have a say in it.

I wonder what posts will be on this board if Ballard played & dropped an “non-characteristic clanger” dues to fatigue and we lost today 1/0 as a result.

i personally have the trust in Critch to decide wether he plays or not.......🚌#88

It's a pickle, because we're at a stage with injuries where we can't afford anyone else to get injured so we may be wrapping them in cotton wool, but simultaneously we're at a point in the season where we may need to throw caution to the wind.

May be better not to risk him for just 1 more game, if Turton/Gretarsson can produce a performance similar to what we saw against Peterborough that Turts/Thorniley produced we'll be fine!

Today we have an alternative option, if we play him and he gets injured then next week we might not.
