You are obviously missing a lot. Benitez is a quality manager. As for Holloway, he worked wonders at Blackpool FC and gave us some wonderful memories. You need to go back to the drawing board…

Look at his trophy cabinet and even what he achieved at Newcastle despite Mike Ashley.
Benitez is a very good manager
 
I think he’s likely to put in more effort to the Everton job than Ancelotti did. Obviously a very good manager.

He better had, the Everton fans will give him until the first derby and they had better win that at least 3-0 or they will turn on him faster than a toupee in a hurricane

As soon as he wins a few games they will be chanting his name. Mark my words.

Last time he won a major trophy was 8 seasons ago in the Italian version of the League Cup, has just been to China where managers go for a last pay day before retiring typically and has made derogatory comments about Everton whilst being their arch-rivals manager. I can understand why an Everton fan might not get excited about the appointment.

That being said, his CV is very impressive between 2001 - 2014. Whereas Everton's CV hasn't been impressive since the 80s so to get a manager with a record of winning things as recently as the last decade is something at least. He'll just need to be successful otherwise they'll turn on him very quickly due to his history, Everton these days have a decent budget and are attempting to change their fortunes before they move into their new stadium so Benitez could do well with them
 
Not sure his 'recent' record is that much to shout about to be fair, failed at Real Madrid, took Newcastle up from the championship but I think I could do that, kept them up and treated as messiah despite Bruce doing better then
fooked off to China... And did nothing. Throw that together with his Everton small club jibes and I can see why some toffees fans are underwhelmed.
 
He won the champion’s league with possibly the worst Liverpool team that’s ever existed, guys a brilliant tactician, I remember Chelsea fans didn’t want him either and by the end of his spell there they didn’t want him to leave.
 
yep, credit to him as he gets results but always thought his teams were a bit too defensive and he set them up for counter attacking football.

Finished 4th with Chelski that season I seem to remember and won the Europa League 🤔

2 Spanish titles, neither with Real, Barcelona or Athletico.....

Uefa Cup with none of the above mentioned Spanish clubs.

Champions League winner with Liverpool
FA Cup winner with Liverpool
Uefa Super Cup winner with Liverpool
Champions League runner up
Premier League runner up, despite losing only 2 games.

Uefa Cup winner with Chelsea and finished 3rd when they didn't look like finishing top 4.

Won the Coppa Italia with Napoli

Promoted Newcastle (ok most probably would)

Kept Newcastle up on a tight budget.

Recent success isn't there but there's not many managers with a better CV. Hes a brilliant tactical coach. Problem is he's managing Everton. Doesnt seem to matter who is manager of them, you'll never win anything there

Absolutely.

I wasn't suggesting that Benitez was/is not clever, I was just pointing out that there will have been other factors in his decision to leave Toon and the Chinese dough may have been one of them.

I appreciate that he may very well have wanted to experience a new culture but I very seldom find managers with a lust for experiencing new cultures rocking up in countries that pay far less than they are accustomed to.
