Blackpool added as an area of concern.

That’s absolutely ridiculous we have only two cases of Covid at the vic and one at Clifton None in critical Care. I just don’t get this at all.

Doesn't seem right - on 8t August the 7 day rolling average new cases in Blackpool was 1 per day which equates to approx 5 cases per 100k of population per week. Unless a big cluster has been found it the last few days then it sounds like fake news to me.

Those areas that have gone into special measures had cases per 100k per week well over 30.

It’s simply a concern raised following increased prevalence of potential symptoms reported to the online app. There’s a long way to go before any measures are implemented.

That will be some muppet in London looking at a map of places they never knew existed in the mythical north. "Look it's near Preston and that was near a place called Blackburn, put them on the list".

It’s got nothing to do with that whatsoever....

The information has been supplied through the COVID 19 app by residents of Blackpool.

If it happens, welcome to my world. Shipley is classed as part of Bradford and is therefore under lockdown, yet, we have had no cases in our area for three weeks. It's central Bradford that has the majority of cases yet outlying areas such as ourselves, Ilkley etc are caught in the lockdown rules. Yet, we look at Swindon, Northampton etc and they are still functioning as normal.

Right... the app.... gotya?
From what I can see they have around 900 people from Blackpool contributing to the App. It would only take 2 of those 900 with CV to produce the 0.24% figure.....

The data is really just a very early warning of a ‘possible’ issue. Without further more detailed localised testing it should be taken with a large pinch of salt.
