Blackpool FC 2023/24 League One Fixtures Thread

Blackpool will open up the 2023/24 Sky Bet League One season at home to Burton Albion on Saturday 5 August.

The match will mark the start of Neil Critchley's second stint in charge of the Seasiders, and will be closely followed by a midweek fixture in the Carabao Cup just a few days later, with our opponents for this confirmed at 2:30pm today.

As for local fixtures, the Seasiders will travel to Fleetwood Town on Saturday 9 September followed by a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 11 November. Bolton will then head to Bloomfield Road on Saturday 24 February, whilst Fleetwood visit on Saturday 23 March.

The festive fixture schedule sees the Seasiders travel to Burton Albion on Boxing Day with a trip to Port Vale just a few days later on Friday 29 December. Lincoln City will visit Bloomfield Road on New Year's Day.

A trip to Reading is on the cards for the final day fixture on Saturday 27 April.

At first glance it looks like we have a decent set of fixtures to start and another to finish. Never exactly how it plays out, however!

I know these words will come back to haunt me but it just all looks so easy! I remember last season going through the fixtures and thinking how tough it all was and yet this year a lot of it looks soft. Barnsley, Oxford and Charlton away in Aug/Sept will be good tests of where we're at.

Very happy with that start, should be plenty of points on the board by the end of August and an early visit to Exeter a real bonus for me, sorry I know it’s a long trip for most.

2 away games over Christmas!!! Burton & Port Vale - That shouldn't happen.

It is a really depressing list of teams though when you see it in the cold light of day, anything but promotion would be unacceptable.
It should be the ultimate objective but judging to by who we have signed and who we are linked with it will be play offs at the very best.

Burton will be a dangerous one. Expected to win so a loss will result in protests on the pitch.
Protests for losing a game... really? Are you sure you're a pool fan? That's a pathetic thing to come out with.

Yep, 7,000 ish. If don’t do well gates will drop to around 5k. Back to the good old league one days.
A total gate of 7k dropping to 5 if we dont do as well... 😄

Back to the good old days, so we haven't grown at all infact we've shrunk by a fair amount.

FFS.

Yeah there will be be uproar. Might even extend to the training ground.

Against the smaller teams that bring around 200, I can see gates of 5k-6k. We’ve grown the fan base and lost it. That is what happens with a relegation. Blackpool rely heavily on the passive fan and even though the POTG prices are slightly better, still think 26 quid is ridiculous when you look at some of the teams we are playing.

What do you think the attendance against burton will be ? I can’t see them bringing more than 500.

Is it £26 next season 😳
Totally agree about walk ups ☹️

Unless you want to sit in the front rows of the family stand. I just don't know how they came to that price. People won't pay it, simple as that. I know some people will say well buy a season ticket instead but a lot of fans like the flexibility of paying as they go but sadly those prices won't encourage. Anyway, probably the wrong thread to discuss the questionable decisions on pricing policy.

From the BBC website, they certainly don't seem to fancy our chances, we barely get a mention.

Who could win the title?

With two of the bigger sides to have come down from the Championship looking as though they may struggle at the start - coupled with the runaway top three from last season of Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town and with Sheffield Wednesday all being promoted - could this be the most open League One title race for some time?

Beaten play-off finalists Barnsley and semi-finalists Peterborough and Bolton Wanderers will all fancy their chances of improving next season - but will Posh still be suffering from the hangover of losing to Wednesday on penalties having been 4-0 up after the first leg?

Beneath them, Portsmouth have already recruited six new players for a first full season, Derby - having had a season of consolidation under new owner David Clowes - could see this campaign as a good one to make a charge for a return to the second tier, while Charlton Athletic are under new ownership.

At the other end of the table Fleetwood Town fans might be worried after chairman Andy Pilley resigned following a conviction for money laundering and fraud, while the four promoted clubs will hope they can get a foothold in the third tier.

All four clubs will hope to follow the example of Exeter City and Bristol Rovers, who finished comfortably in mid-table last season, rather than the League Two champions Forest Green Rovers - who mustered just six wins all season and finished 17 points adrift at the bottom of the table.

I'd say they mention the six clubs there who will be our main rivals - interesting Pompey have 6 players already in which goes to show it's possible!

Think you need to get those bottle glasses sorted Simonized .. it's the first thread on the page 😆
I think you need them or get someone to draw pictures of my post so you can actually understand the meaning of it....

Edit: That goes for the MODS also......
