My eldest lad is back home for a few days and we’re all going out later. Comedy Station booked for later too. Just wondering what are your recommendations for a restaurant - unfortunately Saporis can’t accommodate 5 of us at 5.30pm. Don’t want anything as plush as the beach House.

Cheers, Rob

If he’s back for a few days then you may have chance to go out for another nice meal, it’s not Blackpool but it’s worth a half an hour drive to hutton, hickory smokehouse, the kids took me there for a treat on Father’s Day it was amazingly great, can’t recommend it enough, check out the menu it’s a meat eaters paradise, apart from all the amazing beef, pork etc the sausage’s are worth travelling to London for never mind Hutton, I’m not particularly into sausages but they are at the next level of any meat you’ve eaten before seriously, it’s just one of those meals you won’t forget, not the cheapest but 100% worth it, if you go & don’t agree with me pm me & I’ll do a bank transfer to your account !

We’ll give that a go - thanks 👍

I’ll endorse that.
Easy to eat too much!!!

Paupers, Da Vinci, Capri. Maybe try Carriages, Il Casaro or Town and Country. If just for a burger try Rock of Ages.
I don't think he has the benefit of Dr Who's time machine to be able to do those places pal

Bearing in mind Sapori and Bank is fully booked, the Mandarin would be next on what is sadly a pretty poor choice of places to go in town.

If you wa go to be overfaced with food you can cook yourself and sit in surroundings that are akin to an old antique shop … Ambrosini's is the place to go👍
Fully agree. The problem is if you go for any meat or fish dish it comes with a pile of different vegetables that completely over face you and spoil the main event. The result is food is wasted and that comes with a price and as a restaurateur that’s the last thing you want! What happened to less is more?

Shame really as the food is very good but the focus should be on the main event not the vegetables!

To refer to it in the context “End of Thread” is ridiculous.

An honest review of the place would be…

Location - Awful

Stuck in the arse end of nowhere with nothing else around you.

The Restaurant Itself - Awful

Cramped and dated with old and poorly decorated facilities. Going to the loo is like going to my grans old outhouse In the 70’s.

Zero ‘Ambience’ might as well be in your own front room.

The Menu -Average

A dated menu straight out of the 1970’s with oversized portions.

Wine selection is limited.

The Service - Terrible

Can’t cope with parties larger than 4, owner gets stressed and temperamental..

Seriously… if that is the best Blackpool and Fylde has to offer, we’re in trouble. I’ve just got back from Tenerife and there are better restaurants every 50 yards !!

It was challenging to find anywhere to be honest. Definitely a poor choice of restaurants and more restaurants needed, but who is going to invest in these difficult times? We tried booking Saporis, Twisted and the Bank. All full - ended up in the Vintro lounge - not bad to be honest, we all enjoyed it and had a good time. Everywhere was so busy, which is great to see. Our fault for leaving it too late.

Thanks for all the recommendations. To be fair we left it a bit late in the day to book anywhere, our fault! It was nice to see Blackpool town centre busy, but we do lack a decent offering for restaurants. As I’ve said in a previous reply ‘who is going to invest in these difficult times in a restaurant/bar’
We ended up in the Vintro Lounge - it was busy, great atmosphere and the food wasn’t too bad - it just wasn’t what what we were looking for. Anyway, booked Saporis for 3 weeks time, as at some point I agreed to go and see Elf the Pantomime…… too many Beers! 😊
Nice to see my eldest, as he’s not home very often and had a bloody great time in the Comedy Station - hilarious, excellent value and great to support a local business. if you haven’t been, go - haven’t laughed as much since the Oystons lost at the Rolls building 😁

The Comedy Station is a cracking addition to the Town and is definitely worth a visit👍👍

Turtle bay(Caribbean style food) has applied for permission to open in the old Che bar/Clifton hotel and also Marco Pierre White is opening a restaurant where the Holiday Inn is currently being built.
Bank
Hauze
Saporri
Amaro
Eating Inn are all decent but have to be booked for a Saturday.

If I'm last minute I tend to lower my expectations and either go to a pub like a Spoons or Washington have an adequate Burger or grab a buffet at the Chinese or Mr Basri's which is OK but not brilliant or even Fish and Chips at Papas or Harry Ramsdens.

That's it about Blackpool their are loads of places to eat which I class as fuel which keeps you going when having a few beers.

I get what you’re saying, but most of the above you can do at home. I’m a big advocate of independent local businesses and it would be nice to see more independent restaurants opening instead of large chains. But with large chains investing in the town comes much needed footfall. Be nice to see a Balance, as all the independent restaurants yesterday were really busy, which is fantastic to see 👍

I’m sure it won’t make any difference but they’ve bought a bigger property and it’s re-locating.

Bloody hell, listen to Jay Rayner🤣🤣

No10 ale house and thai kitchen on Whitegate drive, the Thai food is the best in Blackpool, and the beer selection is great too.

Dirty Blondes, The Wok Inn, Upside Down, Stefani’s, The Bank Bar & Grill, Mamma’s Ristorante, or Twisted Indian

Personally when in town I like to go to JK's or quilligans.

Madine likes quilligans too.

It’s not even the best on Squires Gate Lane, never mind Blackpool😂

Not sure what you mean with the last sentence …
Re Italaini or whatever its called, is very poor, unless its changed in the last few weeks, surprised its lasted as long as it has...
