Blackpool v Fleetwood Official Matchday Thread 13.03.21

Take the orange specs off pal😊😊😊
I know you're on the wind up chief, but the intentional mistake of Orange with Tangerine is hilarious considering most of your fanbase would have supported Blackpool before your bankrolling by Pilley.

It seems he's gotten tired of that with his unwillingness to appoint a successor after Barton and landing with Grayson. I mentioned on a thread last night how you failed to sell out against us last year on your play-off push, probably one of the biggest games in your history. If he hadn't realised he was never recuperating his losses at that point I don't know what will!

a bit weird today thought we played much better generally, second half specifically, we looked as though we were actually looking for the win. Two points dropped without a doubt for me. another day two or three of those chances would have gone in. Jerry looked a bit lacklustre on the ball, and wasn't getting into the positions he has been doing. Simms wasnt really in the game. You have to say that their young centre half looks a decent prospect and owned Simms. Reminded me a bit of Ian Evatt.

I think we have learnt that you cannot play Mitchell on the right, his right foot is simply so he doesnt fall down. saying that he came on and caused some problems. Turton had a very good game, as did Virtue when he came on, to me he calmed the midfield down a bit. Dougall doesnt look like the same player as before he had COVID but again second half he was doing a lot more of what he was doing when he first arrived, getting in and breaking up the opposition attacks and doing the simple stuff.

still think we are playing a bit too helter skelter, too many long balls to jerry and Simms of which they won maybe two or three the whole game. we are missing Madine, i think he mght have been the one to give a lesson to a young centre half. I want to say a fair result but really i think Fleetwood really really had lady luck with them today. Ill add that our distribution out of defence is really poor at the moment, and at times put us under needless pressure.

also . . . . . ref was absolutely shisser first half and although he was a bit fussy occasionally had a decent game second half, but properly chalk and cheese. Is it possible that one of the liners or the fourth official had words at half time.

Agree with all of this.

The one place we can't rotate is the most important, the strikers. One injury and we can't make a positive change off the bench. Yates, Madine as our only strikers to start the season and then laterly bringing Simms on loan, was never enough.

I'm not sure why we are so reluctant to put Bange or Holmes on the bench. We have no out and out forward on the bench to make a change, like for like.
Has anyone seen or heard of Lubala recently ?
Was thinking the same thing. Today and other home draws. Why no recognised striker on the bench? Even one of the young lads, who incidentally are on fire at the moment and certainly merit a spot on the bench and time on the pitch. And to have a previous youth coach like NC ignore them, just makes it x100 worse.

Agree. Especially the bolded.

Just lacked that goal or 2 we deserved.

I laughed when the commentators said can't split the sides really, we had far more clear chances, especially second half.
As backed up by the match stats. Just lacking the cool finishes

"Get a grip"?

Just reacting to what happened. 😀
I just don't understand your player scores at all. All too low. We played pretty well. Fleetwood are in very good form and we were the better side, especially second half. Yates and Simms struggled but Fleetwood are physical at the back. And players like Dougall, Kaikai, Virtue, Ballard Turton, Husband played well and 5s and 6s are too harsh for me.

The first fifteen minutes I thought they (Yates and Simms) were going to have a field day as the FT backline were anything but tight. I don't agree that FT are physical at the back. Connolly is a good footballer and relies less on the physical side. They played three across the back and that should've played into our hands but we didn't create much at all. I though our front two were well under par and at times seemed to lack the basics.
Nobody had a good game, For example Ballard was also well below par. I though a lot of our players were satisfactory yesterday.

We were the better side, Fleetwood came here pretty confident and looked confident after 3 straight wins in 10 days including away wins at Lincoln and Shrewsbury. And have only conceded 1 goal in these 4 games.

Too many people expect us to just pop a few goals in. And their goal lived a bit of a charmed life at times yesterday. We didn't play as badly as your scores suggest, nowhere near as badly.

The effort and intensity was there but as critch says we lacked a bit of quality

We had a couple of ' how did that not go in moments

Cods were lucky

I didnt see the match as I was working, but the highlights seem to show some very good chances that we were unable to take and the Stats of 24 attempts against 6 , also tell a story .

Narrow margins, Virtues deflected shot could have easily gone in and Hamilton with pool’s best chance should at least have got his shot on target and tested the keeper. I do think Hamilton is improving since his comeback but not yet at his previous level. Thought pool looked better after Virtue replaced Stewart.
