Blackpool v Fleetwood Official Matchnight Thread 09.04.24

Lavery and Byers played great beesley just needs to tweak his finishing and lift it over the goalie who stuck a leg out twice he could of had a hat trick tonight. The cods leveller looked onside they were unlucky there and I hope they come back up but hopefully we'll still be one division higher

Hamilton ahead of Gabriel: absolute tavesty.

Whatever it is CJ has 'got' over Critchley, I can only surmise it must be something absolutely 'groundbreaking' ...

To be totally frank about this, I'd rather we played with 10 men than begin with C...omplete J...oke in the starting line-up.
Then we wouldn't have won today . Gabriel has provided little , if any , threat going forward in the RWB role.

Sonny Carey is running this game.
I thought Carey was out of position most of the first half , he was hugging the left touchline which basically rendered Coulson redundant.
I couldn't understand it because the two were beginning to gel.
It left Byers to do most of the graft in midfield, although it was good to see Byers often move the ball on quickly for Dembele, ( good to see another partnership growing there).
I am glad we were playing Fleetwood tonight because we could have easily conceded in the last ten minutes.

We were much improved tonight. Byers, in the midfield pivot role, was a revelation. Our closing down was good all over the pitch. Dembele needs to practice his passing. He can't seem to weigh a pass for a forward to run onto. CJ played well and put in an excellent cross for the goal. Husband was largely good on his return and Lavery put in a lot of work. We need the same attitude going into Saturday's game at Carlisle.

We played a very poor team; lacking in so many respects

Hamilton and Carey are the worst two culprits!
I don't think CJ knows how to tackle but his assist won the game. As somebody mentioned earlier he is a lot more effective than Gabriel in that position. To quote that prick Steve Eyre, who I find incredibly annoying, he needs a lot more devilment in his game

Got home from the game and read this thread and my understanding is that all the players are shite and the manager is even worse..... All I can say is that they must have had a remarkable season to still be in with an outside chance of the top six given the above.
It’s been outside all season. Good of you to have noticed the consistency of managerial mediocrity.

We don't do easy wins do we. Watching on my phone in a pizzeria in Central Italy with sketchy connection I thought it was a half decent watch.
It must have lagged for the shit bits!

We moved the ball a lot quicker and had a better tempo I thought which makes us look a lot better on the eye.

On to relegated Carlisle which in the grand tradition of Blackpool surely means defeat...........

... huh? u wot? I read on AVFTT he's a load of rubbish?

I like him. Lots of potential, only 23. I was hoping he'd push on this season but didn't seem to. My pal Critch has rested him and he's come back with a bit of hunger... good management 🤣

and Byers > Norburn.
Critchley dropped him when he was in great form and getting better every week just before xmas. Terrible management.

A much better performance, with numerous chances created. The penalty save probably saved them from losing by 3 of 4. As for the referee, it was as clear a red card as you will see, an absolute shocker of a decision that could well have cost us 2 points. They rallied towards the end and it made for a gripping last 5 plus injury time. Byers was my MOTM, closely followed by Grimshaw for making 2 or 3 excellent saves. Carey and Husband did well, the latter having been out for a few weeks. It's clear where our problem lies though, whilst Beesley scored with a great header we missed chance after chance, that is something we will have to put right in the summer. All in all a better watch than the last couple of games and always nice to send our fishy friends packing with another nail added to their relegation coffin. As for their disallowed goal, it's probably the other striker who is offside and interfering with play, they'll argue otherwise but the linesman got the call correct, just.

Looks like you a
Not really. Said it would be a difficult watch and it was at times. We are terrible.
Looks like you are looking at things through a glass half full of water. I can see our limitations but there were things to like and it was an entertaining match ( partly because we didnt play a defensive midfield player which allowed them to get freely into the last third ) .

From what I see and read, CJ is just too nice a guy to be an aggressive footballer.
Pool need to recruit Gary Brabin or Keith Southern to coach the nasty side of the game into him over summer 🍊 🍊

Haha in his defence that’s the difference between us lot all jaded (Oxford and Pool fans) versus someone on a high! Fair play, I wish I had that buzz, it left with Manning I think this season… 🙈
Thought you’d been having a lie down neyo after the last INO Podcast when nobody could get a word in because of the gobby Stevenage fan 🤣🤣🤣

Was there something in the bovril and pies last night?

I thought it was a crap game played out by two crap teams

Where was the improvement I just read about as a half decent team would have battered us

No team has battered us in the league this season and we haven’t lost at home since November

It was an OK game with both sides having a lot to play for. Stop being a negative nanny!
