Blackpool v Forest Official Matchday Thread 02.04.22

Need rid of midfielders that can't pass the ball not even 10 yards when under pressure .It's evident every game and working hard and getting some tackles in isn't enough for me .It's not a reaction to defeat but something I have been saying about Kenny since last season

Not really the drubbing the score line suggests?
Goals conceded 4 goal for 1. We all know how stats can be misleading and this set certainly are.

Was it just me who think, individual mistakes apart, we actually played ok but nothing dropped for us. Fluke and goalkeeping mistake did for us, if we’d got one the crowd would have livened up and who knows.
Unfortunately individual mistakes are a key part of the game. We were 2nd best all over the park apart from the undoubted man of the match Sterling. Good to see Keshi get game time……..must start on Tuesday

Completely agree,
Forrest are an excellent team, but the first goal was a total fluke and the third was a gimmie from Grimshaw. Im not as down as I Normally would be after a 1-4 loss

Unforced errors cost us today. We may still have lost, as Forest are a good team, perhaps the strongest all round team we’ve played. However, it was not a 3-0 first half performance.

They will struggle if they don’t go up, as a good few of their stars won’t be there next season in the Championship. We weren’t significantly off them, but we need to strengthen in some key positions.

Let’s keep enjoying what’s been a very encouraging season. Important the team & fans don’t let the season fizzle out, because how we finish may dictate how we start next season. It’s an important time.

It's been a steep learning curve for everyone this season, strange that the main tubbings we've had, Forest, Luton and Huddersfield, have all been at home.

Overall very satisfied with the way the season has gone, and a win or draw on Tuesday will be the icing on the cake. No doubt there will be changes over the summer and we'll come back bigger and better next season.

Bit of perspective needed. Forest are decent but we were poor. As above, we've played worse, it wasn't that bad. 3 nil at HT was harsh.

Critch will point out the issues and hopefully we'll take then into the next 2. 4 points and today will be forgotten.

I agree that Forest were good, we were bad and that 3-0 was harsh at half time but I think we have often been outplayed at home this season and be lucky to go in at 0-0.

Not a criticism of Critchley as overall we have done well but we don't seem to try and take advantage of the home crowd getting behind us and get the opposition on the back foot.

Preston and QPR would be exceptions and maybe Blackburn, perhaps we are happier being more solid and harder to beat than when adopting a more expansive carefree style.

I didn't think we had a midfield today or at least it looked that way to me!!
Having said that, I don't believe the performance warranted a 4-1 defeat. We deserved to lose but a couple the deflections for a couple of the goals could have gone anywhere!!
Yeah, I thought Stewart played well, worked hard an put his foot in. Kenny a total space cadet. Bowler was well marked and they gave CJ a pretty free run knowing it would make little diff. Great that Keshi looked good when he came on.

How good must Middlebrough's right back, wing back, attacking right sided player - or whatever they are called - be ?

I thought Forest's right back, Spence, was brilliant and I have since discovered that he is a young lad on loan from Boro.

Was anybody else impressed or should I abandon my scouting ambitions ?
I was thinking the same thing myself, he's been an absolute stand out in the Forest side and yet he's on loan from another side chasing the play offs.

Seems to me our players are always over-criticised when we lose. Didn't seem that bad a performance to me, far from the best but not as bad as some say.

Perhaps Eagle and games can often change in an unfortunate instance as Memphis suggests but I thought Forest murdered us in the first half, time and time again they cut through us easily down their right hand side.

Anyone else find it really weird that nobbers are posting on our site when they are playing. Obsessed Weirdos

Scara calm down lad. If we had been comprehensively thumped 4 1 at home you know full well you lot would have been all over our forum.

Right! Comfortably ensconced in the pub and ready to at least try to rationalise what I witnessed earlier today.
1. We've got away all season with pissing about at the back. Now we meet a fast and capable team and the disaster of the first two goals was all too obvious. Grimshaw - you deserve all the brickbats coming your way.
2. Passing: sharp, crisp and easily slicing open the opposition defence. Then there was Blackpool.
3. We did get our chances but just didn't take them. Why though, in the second half did we only have one route forward - dick about until the ball inevitably goes out to Sterling; who was easily our best player btw.
4. Today went some way to helping me judge who I think should move on at the end of the season. Alas, several of those individuals played today.

Not for the first time have we been hammered in the first half and survived, but Forest had a couple of lucky breaks that other teams or ourselves have been short of, hence the scoreline.

Perhaps Eagle and I'm sure I will have argued the same as you are doing after other games but I just thought we were easily second best today.

Isaiah Jones, best wing back in the league.

And thoroughly deserved Sooty. Your lot before and this load of shite I’m watching, well we couldn’t get 11 players good enough out of both teams to play kick the ** can.
It’s banter of course but that’s cheered me up a little. My £5 bet of finishing above you lot, with a workmate is still looking hopeful 😂 & Christ he rubs it in with me so I’ll have a word on Monday 👍

Individual mistakes, direct passes to Forest players in build up to all Forest goals. First Husband and then a horrible deflection. Then I think Grimshaw and he got away with a few more. Then Dougall twice and who misplaced passes repeatedly today. If Stewart had not looked like getting a second yellow it should have been Dougall subbed. That said Forest when gifted the ball still had to stick it in the back of the net. Just a bad day all round. Some good moments provided by Sterling and Stewart. Rest recover and go again with doubtless a few changes.

Like it Sooty, give him hell. Tell him from me mate, not to say a word till after Tuesday. After watching that load of shite I’m seriously thinking of going over to the dark side, BLACKBURN. HA HA HA, NOT !

I’ve just watched the whole game again, and we weren’t that bad, they were just better, two very fortunate goals and some good finishing put us to the sword . Bowler wasn’t allowed to play , and Spence and Johnson were excellent. I’m not too disheartened, we’ve had a good season, now as long as we don’t get beat on Tuesday it is still a good first season Bach in the championship .

I watched the game on sky as I’m away .

There wasn’t much between us.

They were just clinical .

Holloway and Harewood were talking absolute garbage suggesting forest were dominant throughout .

Neither of them have a clue .

Sorry, I agree with Ollie. Every time they went forward, they threatened. We didn't.

I was at the game but watched the whole game again when I got in, and I totally agree with you !
