Blackpool v Lincoln City Official Matchday Thread 01.01.24

Glad I missed it - went to the races.
The issue is ... win one ... lose one ... (rinse & repeat) all the while playing awful football (albeit that I missed today's game).
We need a winning streak of 6 games - and then we might be in a better frame of mind.

Another hard earned and well deserved home win.
Well done to all involved who put in a real shift and rarely looked like losing the lead.

The only downside of the day was getting home and subjecting myself to the views of the armchair fans on the match day thread.

What a bunch of whoppers!
Oh well done for going. Pour yourself a glass of port and bask in the glory.

We are down to almost our bare bones with injuries & illness. I thought it was a workmanlike performance where they really only had one glaring miss in the first half, other than that I don’t think Grimshaw had much to do. Dale, Morgan, Rhodes & Casey we’re all decent & Hubby seemed more like himself. Joseph for me is trying too hard & I can understand why although I think he’ll be ok. Dembeles tricks are a joy to watch & he will get some more goals & assists. Glad to see Matty get 90 minutes in a more defensive role than his preferred position. Pleased for CJ for his persistence & he got his reward. Glad to see Marv towards the end & whilst I don’t rate Connolly as a starter he did ok & had a decent shot on target, also I hope he’s ok after his clattering & the claret I couldn’t see what happened from the North. All in all I actually enjoyed the game today apart from the flat spots a well deserved win. Sort the system for away games & I might start to warm for Critchley again. All made sweeter hearing the Preston result 😂

We were shit but they were shitter, if all you care about is getting the 3 points then you will be happy. Awful to watch
I would call it an ugly win but three points is all that matters, so job done, i will take the played shit quote all season as long as we win 2-0

First half was awful, much better second half. Casey rightly given MOM, Dale gives us much more than any of the other left options, although I'd play him on the right.
Rhodes has obviously been a model pro, 34 and never stopped working and running, sublime touch at the end deserved a goal.
All in all not the best, but it's 3 points on the board.

All our wins are ugly barring 1 or 2, all our losses are even uglier. Like i said, if all you care about is the 3 points you will be happy. Im happy we won, dont get me wrong, but we are awful as a spectical

Bet you are gutted that we won. i have decided you seriously cannot be a supporter of the club.

There was more atmosphere in my living room than at Bloomfield so I am the better fan.

Certainly not gutted. Just not spending any more money whilst we lose every away game. Makes the whole thing utterly pointless.

Tough watch that first half, lulling Lincoln into a false sense of security. They must have thought we were pony until Casey scored. Special mention for Owen Dale, who would prefer to play further forward I am sure, but always puts a shift in.

The worst fans prove those who brand critics not only non-supporters.

People who back rival clubs.

Certain season ticket holders would pay to see players read their shopping lists.

Proper supporter you are NOT, i see your team got beat at Sunderland

That was better today sliding tackles yellow cards goals and shots on goal , Morgan improved as game went on Virtue ok also, but players looked like they had a lot more fight. Good 3 points but we need to treat each away game like a cup final now to get some consistency in to the results.

I must be thick because i don't get your point

not a great performance, but I have to say the team put in a shift. literally playing against 14 because all the officials seemed actually determined to give it to lincoln.

Virtue did a decent job in a defensive mid role, but couldn't get his typical passing game going (better option than Norburn by some distance), morgan played really well in that role between defensive lynch pin and getting forward. Dembele didnt really get going today, but whenever he got the ball he did something useful, kicked all over the park again - no protection from the officials. CJ and dale had their moments, but we were playing too deep. Rhodes chased and made a nuisance of himself.

seemingly went to 4-4-2 or possibly 4-3-2-1 after the subs, and looked a bit better, had more control.

3 points - job done move on to the next game
Thought it more of a 3-4-2-1 after the subs, but either way it was effective.

So after the home game on Sat week, we will have 8 home games left and 11 away.

We have to go for it in the away games if we are to be in contention for the playoffs.

But knowing Critchley he will look for us to dig in and scratch out a few results on our away games.

We have a run of Southern away games coming up in late Jan and Feb. Normally I would be well up for them but can’t muster much enthusiasm at the minute.

Such as?

Glad to get three points back on the board but the 1st half was another Sunday league performance! Not sure why we can't come out all guns blazing, especially at home.

Well done Casey and Hamilton who will now find themselves on the bench..

You contributed to a quality atmosphere mate well done. Stadium looked and sounded electric. Were you also one of the whoppers that cheered for the Critchley fist pump cringe fest at the end??

Not a horrible performance, but not really great either. So bleh.

A win's a win, but still so unconvincing.

Derby, Stevenage, and Barnsley all dropped points above us which is nice so we're very much still in the hunt for Playoffs, but things have to click sooner or later.

Home to Exeter
Away to Bristol Rovers
Home to Charlton

Need 7 points minimum if we want to even have a chance going into February.
After Cambridge, Northampton, Burton and Port Vale yielding zero points no way will we get near to 7

Not fair. Watching our team close up today I saw a group of young men fighting for everything. Make no mistake, Lincoln came to dominate the play and at times they did. However, we bested them towards the end of thefirst half and for a lot of the second. That was a difficult match and we won it with effort, hard knocks and determination.

The problems come when the opposition score first... NC seems to just carry on regardless... only twice have we come from behind and got anything... 2 draws never a win... until he gives the players the green light to try something different... mid table is all we can expect..it would appear that’s good enough for the club this season 🙁

A few injuries/illness effecting the line-up. Bench really weak offensively.
Not sure what Carey has done not to start, I think he's massively improved last couple of months, played and won against Bristol Rovers and then not started last 3. Bizarre. Connelly starting again is also very worrying, along with Husband who has been poor last few weeks.
Positives Dale deserved a start and Marv on bench after being ill.
Perhaps Carey not wanting to know a tackle has some thing to do with it!

It always makes interesting reading and to a certain extent supports @Phil_bfc deux rant about armchair fans post Port Vale.
You definitely get a different "impression" of the game when you are there
It most certainly wasn't a classic, it wasn't pretty but it was ultimately enjoyable because it was a win.
It proves once again that dominating possession isn't, for this BFC team, a recipe for success.
After 2 poor defeats winning dirty was just what we needed.
Finally Casey's MOM was thoroughly deserved.

No way could want Bolton to win either just because Evatt is manager.
Half the time you don't seem to want us to win so most of your comments are pretty much null and void. Although I did manage to agree with something you said yesterday but I forget what exactly
