Blackpool v Lincoln City Official Matchnight Thread 01.10.24

Wtf was Fletcher doing at the back post?

Been a great start under Bruce but our lack of options from the bench is concerning. We looked all over the shop during the last 15 mins; leggy and aimless.
Fletchers defending was poor but he got an assist for our goal.

I’ve already said it but their goal came from Carey’s earlier mistake where passed the ball straight out of play. He is shit and should be no way near our squad.

Cool your jets lads. Yes we should have won on balance of play and chances but we didn't.

Feels like a loss as they scored such a soft late goal but measured progress.

We were third on goal for 95 minutes. Go to Mansfield and win and this will be a good point.
We should remember their keeper made some outstanding saves so on another day we would have been 3-0 up at half time.

I mean, a lot happened between that Carey pass and the goal. Our brilliant new GK flapping at the corner for one thing.

But we go there and get beat then what? Been a great start under Bruce but if he can’t get 3/4 he will want in January then I think we just miss out again. Beesley Carey embleton and Rhodes arnt good enough.

Lincoln dirty cynical and ultimately lucky. But we should have been out of sight, and we let them back in the game with ten men.

We have to take more of our chances, there were some bad misses, and develop some composure late on in games. Foot on ball.

Stuff to learn. Three of our five strikers barely look like scoring. We look a much better side than them though, they just have a plan, and they should have been down to ten men a lot earlier.

Organised but in terms of football, easily the worst we've seen. Set up to defend. Snatched a point and didn't remotely look like scoring at any stage during the game when it was 0-0.
They will be in the play offs end of season no doubt. Very organised. Grind out results. Wouldn’t want to face them in the final

Folks, a good professional performance by us tonight, against a good strong team.

Yes be frustrated but keep the toys in the pram. Their keeper kept them in it and we controlled the game. These things happen, but we need our subs to maintain the level. That’s not happened final 20 at Charlton, Huddersfield and tonight. Difference tonight is that we didn’t get the second.

Steve Bruce will be learning a lot about players. He’s probably grasping what we already know about a few.

Never has a more obvious ending to a game been more obvious. Lincoln just don't lose and you have to keep going to the final whistle because they always do.
Hit the nail on the head, was an obvious ending! Only silver lining and I know you shouldn’t do this on your own team but £8 on the draw at 25:1 with 3 minutes to go paid off.

I think we would have taken a point before the game based on Lincoln’s form. Just feels much worse when we concede so late after playing so well.

It’s weather if Bruce is given the green light to replace the dead wood. We have to be in top 6 for Sadler to consider it I think

Fletcher had a crazy few minutes. Missed an absolute sitter, got an assist, gave away a couple of stupid free kicks then static at the corner where Hamer mullered him for their equaliser.

Yep, they came for a point against the in-form side in the league and got it, while reacting well to their game plan being disrupted. There's a reason they're unbeaten in so many away from home.

Shame as we looked levels above in the first half.

The last 15 minutes were like last season when we were in front, seem to like the killer punch when teams are on the ropes and get hit with a sucker punch at the end.

I think Fletcher has clear confidence problems, when the numbers came up for Apter, and Morgan he looked over thinking he may get subbed.

Can’t win em all, Fletcher did well for the goal but I wouldn’t put him on centry duty, for a big fella he doesn’t win many headers. We sat back after the goal and sending off we should have turned the screw they gained in confidence and our passing went wayward starting with the keeper.

Like I just said to @EdgeleyTangerine, we made them look ordinary with a very good performance. You can’t devalue a good performance by saying they were shit. We just dominated a strong team.

I don't think they are a strong side at all, lacked quality everywhere. I didn't see anything from them to suggest they're a strong side.

Came for a point. Got a point. Congratulations to em.

Missing chances puts massive pressure on us near the end of matches. Shooting practice needed.

The key loss was Coulson. There were only him and Gabriel prepared to carry the ball out of defence. He set up a lot of forward moves in the first half. When he went off there was no out ball on the left hand side. CJ was getting little service and we ended up passing across the back. It was a painful watch at times.

We’ll definitely be recruiting, no question about that. I’d expect us to spend more than usual, as it’s there for us.
Let’s steady on a little bit. We’re 6th and 4 teams can go above us with a win. We have to be in that top 6 for Sadler to think about it. If he doesn’t we will fall short again.

There is so much rubbish on here tonight. There was one clear reason why we threw that game away.We scored and playing against 10 men ffs we complacently sat back with just a one goal lead, and completely threw away the initiative ffs.I commented about it before they equalised and in the end we got exactly what we deserved.
