Blackpool v Portsmouth Official Matchday Thread 09.03.24

Game ruined but well battled for the point. Only going to further solidify the spirit and togetherness within the squad that.
This work rate off the ball has been the difference lately.
Fleetwood similar to us today with a sending off but held Stevenage to a draw so as we were 🍊

We needed a CJ performance on the 80th minute, would have been perfect outlet to hit the corners or cut in. Apart from that risk which wasn't taken its difficult to criticise anything today other than that wank sock of a ref

What makes it worse is any manager who openly complains about a dodgy ref gets a fine from the FA

Critch should tell it like it is, then set up a Go Fund me page so everyone can chip in

Fuming doesn't cut it

WTF is Norburn doing there, that is madness, lucky not to have got sent off for that
I loved that. Statement of intent and the player hobbled off soon after. About time we got serious and put ourselves about in these games. I thought Norburn and Byers were excellent today, Coulson too. Marv was a colossus and the best moment of the game for me was Dembele's last ditch tackle in the second half. Heart of a lion that lad 👍

We are a team that does well in adversity. Today was the perfect example.
Give us a game when we've got 65% possession and the only pressure is from hoof ball and we fcuk it up (especially if it's Tuesday night).
Well done today to every player in tangerine and the fans in the ground as well. UTMP

I thought he was excellent too but with that ref he was risking being sent off. Byers is making a big difference to our midfield though he and Norburn have started to understand each other now.

I can only go by what I've read on here, what I heard on the radio from both our reporters plus the Portsmouth reporters and what I've read on the BBC, and in all cases the referee was considered to be wrong. So he must have been wrong and if the appeal is turned down by those in charge they are as culpable as him in the sending off.

take off norburn and bring joseph on who's a lot less passive, better header of the ball, better tackler and will chase everything play him and dembele a bit deeper 3-3-2-. Not impressed by portsmouth. if dembele gabriel coulson and joseph (if he comes on) we have players who can run at the pompey defence. they are going to commit fouls its then a matter of just how shit and possibly corrupt this ref is.
clueless as per usual. We've had a man sent off against the top of the league and you wanted to take off our defensive midfield player who yesterday had a great game and bring on a forward who i daresay has never played a professional game of football in his life as a defensive midfield player.

When you're a man down against top of the league, you sit back, dig in, and take the point. Otherwise you risk a heavy defeat when goal difference could come in to play at the end of the season. It was the right thing to do, and to be fair Critchley resisted the temptation to take off Dembele and put on someone more defence-minded, so we did all we could to give ourselves a chance of nicking a goal too.
The crowd, the players and the manager were all spot on yesterday.

No point after the fact. I think suffice to say everyone did their best yesterday. Were right decisions made? Our points total and league status at the end of the season will tell us if we got it more right than wrong this year.
