Blackpool v Rangers Official Matchday Thread 16.07.22

Have they sold their 7000?
I know for a fact hundreds will be mingled in the home ends.
I'm predicting 15,000 crowd and a 3-3 draw.

Apparently they got an additional allocation last Friday. Don't know how many more but the initial 7k were sold.

Disappointing ticket sales by the looks of it for the home crowd
Still think it should have been a tenner.

£15 is just below what ST holders pay for a league game.

Not checked if there's POTD - presumably not. Think we'll have about 5k - and yes I know the economics of £15 make sense.

looking forward to seeing The Gers at Bloomfield Rd, sure we will have a decent turn out come kick off

The issue with the Rangers Game is that they are a big Club (within themselves) but they're not really a very big draw as far as attracting Blackpool Fans is concerned. It's certainly not a fixture that particularly interests me, although I can't really say that any pre-season friendly is of much interest really... I'd happily have them all played behind closed doors TBH.

Yeh get what your saying friendlies aren’t everyones cup of tea but we’ll be there even without new signings 😉. There will be twice as many Rangers fans there as well but that reflects the lack of appetite from our supporters which is a personal choice.

I don’t think the lack of appetite has anything to do with it being Rangers to be honest I’ve not done a friendly for about 15 years just no interest in them these days so for me it wouldn’t make any difference wether it be Rangers, Liverpool, or even Man Utd in town I still wouldn’t choose to go.

We’re saying the same thing Jaffa and as l said it’s always a personal choice and l respect that.

I agree with lots of what you say so I really shouldn't bite but it will be interesting to see how many more BLACKPOOL SUPPORTERS will attend the friendly against the big club Everton than the friendly against Rangers (the big club within themselves) ?

Are Everton not just another example of the same though really? From a Blackpool perspective they're not exactly going to light any particular fires are they?

I was just snapping at your "big club from within" comment.

I agree that Rangers wouldn't draw Blackpool punters like Man Utd and Liverpool - possibly City - would but I also assumed, albeit very lazily, that you were suggesting that there were plenty of other clubs that would have been a bigger draw than Rangers.

Apologies for biting and I do agree with most of what you said and share your lack of enthusiasm for pre-season kickabouts - I will go on Saturday but just for something to do.

Peace Out

Rangers game will be far bigger for the town to be honest than Liverpool, Utd, city as the Scots will be down all weekend spending their money in the town than the 3 prem teams who would be just over for the day and even know it's only a friendly the Rangers fans will create a good atmosphere as well !

No problem with any of that but to be fair to x3, all he suggested was that Rangers are not a particularly big draw among Blackpool supporters.

I have no doubt that there will be plenty of Rangers supporters spending money in our great town and creating a good atmosphere at the game as you suggest.

As my Celtic supporting mate ( RIP Colin ) once said to me, Celtic and Rangers never ever play friendlies, they always play to WIN so the match may be a wee bit interesting

I thought this friendly was part of the Tony Weston transfer? So you'd imagine we'd get all of the ticket income and be allowed to sell streams.

TSSJr1 and his mate have just asked me to get tickets.

I've told them to expect to be outnumbered, be in a cracking atmosphere and see Blackpool lose!

I'm hoping that as happens so often, the away fans run out of steam before kick off as the "on the piss in Blackpool" effect kicks in - although I think Rangers may be different gravy as they are always on the drink.

Reading their forum they seem to think it's going to be fine wearing colours in the home end.

We do have our share of idiots, it could an interesting afternoon.
