Bloody cyclists - at night

Coming home from last nights match, there were 3 separate incidents in just 20 minutes when cyclists dressed in dark clothing, and with no lights cycled across my path. Fortunately the street lights were reasonably bright, but again tonight an idiot went through a red light and across my path with no lights.

Morons

I had a scooter to the left of me and an ebiker to the right, both in dark clothes and no lights. The way they were keeping up with looked like they were ready to carjack me, I forced the ebiker into oncoming traffic and let him claim the hit. If he did that is. I calmly drove off to where I was going.

Then they wonder why so many get killed on Britain's roads
The more the better, ** morons.

You need to be lit up like a bloody Christmas tree at night and especially this time of year. No sympathy for any of em if they get knocked off their bikes/scooters

They are not cyclists, they never pedal, & the balaclavas & no lights is because they are running drugs.

I nearly had one last night, all in black didn't see him till the last moment, & if I hit him it would be my fault??? 😳

They obviously haven't seen the public information films about 'Be seen, be safe '

If they're clad from head to toe in black including a balaclava, with no lights, you can't blame the driver for mowing them down.

You can't blame the driver... unless they did see them... and chose to mow them down... There's a lot of irrational hatred out there...
Cyclists are actually human beings too... I mean, hey, there might even be one in your family 🤣
(And really, what harm do they do to you??)

No one, well very few, mows down on purpose. But if you're out at night dressed from head to toe in black without lights it's at your own risk.

i pass one every morning at 5.30 am , bedecked in black, no lights or hi viz yet i am expected to pass about 2 miles wide of them when overtaking...

I remember the very old (and racist) Bernard Manning joke about the Pakistani cyclist.

He'd seen the adverts about wearing something white at night, so he wore a white hat, white top, white trousers and white shoes-

.... and got run over by a snow plough.

A young girl, in Bradford, on her way back from school hit by someone, on the pavement, driving an electric scooter, two broken teeth. swelling to face and has to go back to hospital for x rays. Did he stop? did he hell as like and the Police are appealing for witnesses.

You ought to come to Poulton.
It's safer to walk in the road on Blackpool Old Rd.
There are more cyclists on the footpath than walkers.

As a cyclist, it really annoys me when adults cycle on the paths... gives us all a bad name. Young children, with underdeveloped road sense...fine. I understand that. But, any adult who chooses the pavement instead of where they should be (the road), they shouldn't be on a bike, in my opinion.

Well, 1.5m... yes. As a driver, in charge of a lethal machine, you are morally obliged, I think, to "expect the unexpected" - from all other road users, of course.

about time these t...ts were gotten hold of. not a week ago a braindead cyclist almost knocked my wife over. ignaRANT PIECE of nothing. off course she cursed him. think they have the right to use ANY ROAD surface. 😬😬😬

Forgive my ignorance, but is it a legal requirement to wear a cycle helmet when on a bike?
There seems to be an increasing number of cyclists of all ages, riding two, sometimes three abreast, on a main road, often without head guards or lights.
I admit some motorists are reckless, but there are those on bikes who assume they've right of way, whether on a road, pavement, canal towpath or (quite rightly, but rarely, it seems nowadays) designated cycle lanes

I also see a lot of 'youngsters' on electric scooters on the footpaths.
Surely they should have a licence for a motorised or powered scooter?

It would do the world of good if everyone was made to pass a cycling test then a motorcycle test before being allowed out on the roads in cars, only then would motorists have reasonable well balanced view how to behave on the highways.

It’s your moral obligation that if you see anyone over the age of 30 on a bicycle wearing Lycra, to either swerve violently so they end up in a hedge or if you have a passenger, for the passenger to open the window and push them into the hedge.

Might seem harsh but it’s for their own good. Clearly they have no friends or loved ones who care enough to tell them they look a foookin abomination.
I find it sometimes takes these mamil’s several hedge munches before they see the error of their ways and return to the loving arms of a gym or leisure centre 👍

It’s good practice to ride 2 or 3 abreast tbh. It means that cars have to pay attention and overtake properly, instead of trying to squeeze past too closely.

Motorist seem to forget they don’t actually own the road

Maybe if you took up cycling you wouldn’t be so “chunky” 🤔🖕

I’ve never seen a fit looking cyclist yet?

The ones I’ve seen all have skinny arms and no upper body strength. A pot belly shown up by the Lycra

Weights are all I need bud. Gives you a great fitness level and even if you’re old you’ll look hench and be able to lift heavy shit 😂

Well your not looking very far then, I do both, it’s a good balance.

I have zero time for people who disrespect cyclists!

Ironically I’ve just hit one rushing back to watch the game, he was in the wrong side of the road though and I got away with the old “sorry I don’t speak Portuguese” card. True story 🤦‍♂️

And as this is Ibcreasibg what are the -
Police and those usual suspects, the government doing about this vehicle crime - bikes jumping red lights harassing folk on pavements

This country is a joke on this

I think a lot of people on this thread would be best advised to stop driving. For their own safety and others.

With all that's going on in the world a kid on an escooter causes such fury.

1st world issues.

Most cyclists have more stamina than the gym stedhead. Keep popping those biceps and work on your legs too.

Started my working llie as a telegram Boy at the GPO (Blackpool).

My best mate wasn't a TG Boy but his mum bought him the latest Raleigh, very good bike.
One day I met him on Caunce St near the Devonshire Rd end. I was going back into town.
He said.' Race you into town', him on his flash bike. The PO Bike was much heavier.
No contest.
I thrashed by about 10/15 yards. 😁
I was pretty fit in those days.
