Sounds like the French crashed the system short term yesterday by not providing enough staff in the morning and we crashed the system long term before that by not listening to advice to redevelop the port with 30 million or so finance (peanuts in the grand scheme of things) to cope with the extra pressure.
I assume this was for the usual ideological reasons.
The reports are that the port works just fine so long as the facilities they have are properly staffed, the problems are solely down to the failure by France to provide enough staff.
As an aside, what's the point of improving the facilities when the French have demonstrated their willingness to f*** around with things at will.
