Boo Hoo Britain

Sounds like the French crashed the system short term yesterday by not providing enough staff in the morning and we crashed the system long term before that by not listening to advice to redevelop the port with 30 million or so finance (peanuts in the grand scheme of things) to cope with the extra pressure.
I assume this was for the usual ideological reasons.

The reports are that the port works just fine so long as the facilities they have are properly staffed, the problems are solely down to the failure by France to provide enough staff.

As an aside, what's the point of improving the facilities when the French have demonstrated their willingness to f*** around with things at will.

My auntie married a French man and moved over there, it must have been a terrible affliction being disliked by the whole of the nation. When I went to the trenches at Ypres, an area of land had been given to the British in recognition of how many of our soldiers had died there, yep they must really hate us.
I must have imagined the warm welcome I received in Barcelona and Venice (twice). As a nation we don't half have a chip on our shoulder about the perception of being disliked. Isn't is a tad immature to speculate that all the countries named, with a combined population exceeding 100m dislike us? Unfortunately it seems a popular and lazy myth over here. That level of deep thinking was tapped into hook, line and sinker by the vote leave campaign, which was hijacked by a bloke who is so lacking in principles his sole ambition was to become PM and used this as his vehicle of choice. After his subsequent accession to the throne and contined abysmal track record of lies and deceit, this is bizarrely swept under the carpet in a fervour of xenophobia.....its those horrible French sorts, EU dirty tricks blah blah blah whilst the Eton mob continue to snigger from their European 2nd homes at how the tried and trusted divide and rule deflects the plebs.
I’m just telling you my experience, which include employing French, German, Italian, Poles and many other European nationals as well as from other countries aro the world and they all have their own characteristics.

Is it?
If you pay for a service surely they should provide one?
Didn’t we pay France £45m for policing and stopping the illegal immigrants from crossing? Yet month by month the number of crossings just increase.
Clearly the French like taking the piss out of us. 🤬
Clearly brexit gave them the ability to do so.

You might be right, but I would think it quite likely that the port will be creaking to a standstill at busy times like this.
What might save it is people rerouting to airports and other tourist destinations and ways out of the country.
I know I will.

I don’t remember all these problems at Dover before we joined the EU. The only time I used it was probably around 45 years ago and we didn’t have any problems. Is this simply the pent up desire to go on holiday following two years of restrictions?

I'm sure that the port limits the number of sailings to their capacity to process the passengers, the only thing expanding the port would achieve is an increase in the number of sailings and the ability of the French to f*** with things even harder.

That’s part of it for sure. But there’s a big difference between the world in the 1970’s than now.

It’s obvious the French messed up either by deliberate action or just a plain balls up.
This is what happens when you become rule takers not rule makers .
Take back control was a load of shite so get used to more of the same.
Blue passport though so all is not lost

Designed in France 🙄.

Stitched up by the Frogs.

Should have been 14 French border control officers on duty Friday morning at the port of Dover yet 6 turned up for work.

Shame you didn’t mention that BHOK even though you knew it was the case nice one. 😉

And like me I would imagine who voted for it can’t be arsed going to France at any time. 👍
Yet the CEO of the British Ports Authority says its partially down to Brexit causing additional checks for all British passport holders.

He doesn't post on AVFTT though, so knows nothing.

Partially 🤣
Word it how you want but it still doesn’t hide from the fact 8 Frogs skipped off work on Friday causing the mess.

He's just being kind to the French. Everyone knows that they can move the wagons and cars as quickly as they want. They just don't want.

Whatever. As I was saying, the zealots never admit there is a problem.

Sunny uplands here to stay.

Control those borders.

I see Rwanda are now saying the £120 million paid covers 200 people and that's all they will take.

Money well spent.

You can hop in a car here and drive thousands of miles if you want and cross borders to Scotland, Wales, N Ireland, and I know which I’d prefer.
And as regards being the most restricted citizens in Europe it’s still a surprise then that so many people from various countries are still risking life and limb to get here. 🤔
And as regards we envy their freedom do we? well you might well do but most certainly don’t.
That is an incredible post. Literally incredible.
