Boris drops out

Perhaps he thought his running would seriously damage the credibility and long term future of the Tory Party, oh wait a minute………..

I think you're missing the point, he didn't have 100 votes.
Not only that, he and his team tried to make out this afternoon that he had enough votes signed up . They tried to get Mordaunt to withdraw , which indicated their desperation. The public endorsements to this evening were nowhere near 100. He was about to be humiliated, to fail, he couldn't handle that. Hes finished as a politician I imagine. Will he head back to the Dominican Republic to finish his holiday? Maybe he should stay there.

What's the point of going back to a Banana Republic when he's turned this country into one?

Likely it will be Rishi now, a supposedly safe pair of hands, or so they think.
However he doesn’t have the public appeal of Boris and possesses zero charisma. He will undoubtedly lead the Tories into a voting annihilation at the next General Election, and that will be his legacy.

I hope he might just do a reasonable job in very, very difficult circumstances.
He seems a decent sort🤞. Good luck to him.

Looks like the Rishi will be the next target for the media and it doesn't really matter whether he has any dodgy secrets or shady past because there will be plenty ready to swear he does. You would think that for the good of the country people would want some kind of settled government and harmony, but the noisy minority isn't all that interested in what's good for the country. Good luck to Rishi. He'll need it.

The lying ** Johnson puts out one last lorry-load of bullshit.
Said Bozo... “I have easily got 102 nominations from fellow MPs in the bag. But it would not be right for me to stand, in the interests of party unity etc...”
Hogwash. The scumbag Bozo was going to fail, quite publicly, on Monday morning. So he runs away.
Hopefully, Sunak faced him down on Saturday evening and called his bluff about a “Cabinet deal”, so we should not see Bozo in any public office again. Nor Jacob Rees-Mogg, Dorries and a few other RWNJs.

Sunak will do well to explain away his allegiances to the USA (California residence and his active Green Card while serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer) and his wife’s multi-year tax avoidance while living in the U.K. for many years.

The Green Card is really bad PR - you only qualify for one if you swear in your application that your intention is to settle permanently in the USA. The Opposition in the next GE will crucify him on that. Never mind the Red Wall, what about the southern Blue Wall going Yellow.

So the Conservatives look like have a non white, ethnic leader and have also had three female leaders but the Labour Party Dinosaurs 🦕 stick to white males from north London 🤷🏽‍♂️ Try to change guys

I emailed him a couple of years ago about his support for Dominic Cummings after Barnard Castle. He backed him absolutely to the hilt. He's developing a knack of backing losers.. 🤷‍♂️😂
Yeah well if we all thought like you we’d be drinking crap like Jim Beam.🤣

“Let’s get this done, Dudders, I’m up for it”!
WHAT A PLONKER! Never learns, never changes. Lies to the end!

The trouble is, they've all been a disaster for the country.
Why does what sex or ethnic background they have matter? I keep hearing this from Tory's all the time...like it's somehow a badge of honour! 🙄. Oh let's choose the next Labour leader from Bradford so we can meet the 'quota' and appear diverse! And it must be a woman from an ethnic background ... FFS! 🙄 😏
Of course the Tories are so ethnically PC that their former leader was saying that Muslim women were dressed like post boxes! What a joke they are! 😏

Sunak will be a competent PM in leading us through the next 2 years but he is on a hiding to nothing due to the economic situation. He will undoubtedly have to rise taxes but the Tory MPs will resist tax rises (and especially those that hit the rich if he has the courage to do that) so that will be a major challenge for him to get through. Public services will no doubt be up for cuts too. This will give Labour easy shots at goals for the next election and a massive Tory defeat.

In some ways the best thing for the Tory party long term would be for Sunak to call a snap GE and give Labour a landslide.

Sunak wants to privatise the NHS, he is a right wing free marketeer despite appearances, different from Truss in that he understands Economics and where there are special circumstances. On the positive side, he is so rich that corruption issues shouldn't be an issue, he doesn't have to give anyone favours. And looks pretty squeaky clean on his private life. Green card and wife's non-dom status are likely to be recurring themes - it's difficult for him to explain those away.
Hunt and Sunak both want to privatise the NHS, it could be a difficult two years

Even in defeat, he can't admit he lost. Still pretending he had the votes. What a loser.

Seems that he did have the votes after all: https://order-order.com/2022/10/24/1922-committee-secretary-confirms-boris-had-the-numbers/

For the historical record Nigel Adams says he met this morning with Bob Blackman, Joint Secretary of the 1922 Committee.

“He has independently verified the nomination paperwork and confirmed to me that Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP was above the threshold required to stand for the Conservative Party leadership in this leadership election. Therefore Mr Johnson could have proceeded to the ballot had he chosen to do so”

Sunak is going to become PM, Mordaunt will withdraw probably doing a deal with Sunak for a senior position. ERG are not endorsing any candidate, but you would think bearing in mind that both Sunak and Cap’n Penny are full on Brexit fantasists they are happy with either outcome so expect the ERG bias in the cabinet to continue.

The interesting (not really interesting) thing is whether Sunak will apply some pragmatism to the Brexit processes as he did with finances around the pandemic, more open and honest negotiations with the EU, the NI border problem, building the customs and checking processes or coming to some form of agreement with EU etc in order to start fixing the economic problems, and whether he can get the ERG and their ilk to accept a few non-wins in the short term. Sunak has two plus years to see out before a GE, and he will have to get the Tory nut-job alliances and the various Tufton street groups to play a longer game, medium term stability and economic growth and hopefully win a GE where they start to cut tax massively, privatise the health service further privatise education and the justice system.

In some respects it might have been better to have Boris or one of the other fuckwits. I saw an analysis of the Truss Sunak campaigns pitching Truss as the Libertarian and Sunak as the middle ground conservative, which he just isn’t. his free market libertarian go way past those of Truss, but unlike Truss he’s not a complete imbecile – if he can get the Nutjobs to play the long game he will do more damage to the UK in terms of economic participation than even Thatcher did in the eighties.

Forgive me for not being convinced because Boris's mate says someone told him he's seen paperwork. Maybe Boris had 100 MPs, but when you've built a career in lying and trying to get power over anything to help your ego you lose credibility with me. Especially when he's tried to build a brand on being some amazing electoral giant. Still a loser though isn't he.

Personally I'm amazed that BloJob actually still has Tory MPs (known as 'The arse lickers') who want him to come Back
It's unbelievable, hadn't they noticed that he was slung out for 'misdemeanours'.
Whatever that covers.

And is still facing in house charges for misleading the House.
