Boris has to go

There were plenty who thought Johnson would be better and look how well that’s turned out. The truth is that until they’re in power we don’t actually know how good or otherwise they’ll be.
I do think it’s so ironic that at this crucial point in history there are so many self serving imbeciles in power. Not just in this country but throughout the world
It’s definitely slim pickings politically right now.

This chapter with Johnson was almost completely predictable and some of us tried to say so at the time.
The guy has no vision or underlying principles and is miles out of his depth as PM. He is good at making after dinner speeches if you are right wing and like having your prejudices confirmed. Apart from that he is a nasty, self serving narcissist who will clearly sacrifice anybody to save his own skin. He doesn't know how to tell the truth and is of limited ability. He has embarrassed our country on numerous occasions on the international stage. He surrounds himself with half-wits and deliberately ferments chaos amongst them to distract from his own stark lack of leadership qualities. I, for one, will enjoy his inevitable downfall. Him and Cameron between them have literally ruined our country.
Don't worry, I am sure that 20's will be along in a minute to tell me how angry I am.

As you say, depressingly predictable. A bit like the impact of Brexit really.

He was chosen as leader purely for narrow electoral purposes and it reflects very badly on the Tory Party that it values five years in power over the kind of long-term leadership that the country is crying out for.

I didn't respond to Wilf's thread about the state of the Parties, but the big four (if you include the SNP) are all a sorry mess at a time when we need so much more.

Yep. Bring your own Cheese and wine....
Yes, then saunter down to the £2.6M briefing room to do the only briefing that was ever made in it, and even then it wasn’t a real briefing but a “joke”one by a woman who was taken on as the briefing specialist (£120,000 p/a) to the PM, she then left that role without ever doing it, to become publicity co-ordinator at the COP26 - did anyone mention unelected officials and pissing our money up walls.

Good to see you back on here, hope it's going well.

At least the ones that are shit can be held accountable and kicked out at the next election, unlike the unelected ones in the eu.

Well, if the elections weren't stuck in the first past the post system.
The last time a UK government had a majority of votes was 1935.

But apparently its the EU that is undemocratic.

He has governed this country like we are a third world banana republic, siphoning money out through dodgy contracts to his cronies and creating rules for us to follow while he and his band of reprobates ignore them and laugh at us for being stupid enough to try to stick by the rules. Treating the country like his own cash cow. I sincerely hope that his arrogance will be his downfall and he is held to account for his actions.

This lot make the Euro MP's look like Angels.

I'm sure the eu lot can be shady too. But yes I voted for Boris mainly to move the country on from brexit deadlock.

He did.....OK at that but has gone completely mad.

Tbh I think whoever would be in charge would have lost the plot 'following the science' and kept putting us under these restrictions, vaccine passports ffs.

But were apparently 'living with it'.

It was only masks in shops for 3 weeks, not this, what next, what did we get jabbed for of normal life keeps being stored from us.

Hes a prick and so are the doomsday duo.

The half witted Buffoon spent more time paying tribute to Allegra Stratton that anything else. The woman should be deported after her prison sentence

Sick of hearing about this Christmas fcuking party.

Surely people realise this is just the usual type of media muck spreading that happens on a regular basis.

I’ll judge this Government & Boris on what they do or don’t deliver

Isn't that exactly what people are doing? They're judging him by him and his cronies actions compared to what they were doing last Christmas.

If you mean Johnson and Co, then I agree, but there are many politicians of all parties who are honest and hardworking.

I've been fortunate in meeting a few MPs over the years. They all had very good records and they seemed to me to be sincere and honourable.

We have to be careful not to tar them all with the same brush
My apologies but im going to take issue with this probably throw away statement. Undoubtedly there will be SOME MP's who are hardworking, but to what end are they working, self interest, corporate interests, Party interests, because it is evident that the vast majoriity if not all MP's are not serving the public. Corruption is rife amongst MP's and if there are honest members amongst them they are doing very little to out the wrong uns.

They may have as you say very good records but what does that mean? And seeming to be sincere and honourable is a relatively easy skill to acquire.

When we start seeing quality politicians who put the people they serve above their own self agrandisement and percsonal gain holding the majority who are dishonest, corrupt, feckless, venal or just plain stupid, to account and forcing change in the system then we can stop tarring them with the same brush.

the thing is that Johnson and co are not really doing anything out of the ordinary that hasnt been going on for my whole life, the Thatcher government was full of morons doing secret little deals to enrich themselves, the same with the Blair / Brown government. Camerons administration was mired in cronyism, and corporate and financial scandals. Dont even get me started on Theresa May. I think the only real difference is that the current band of imbeciles don't even feel the need to cover their tracks, because they know they won't be held to account, not in parliament, not in the media, and certainly not in any court of law.

The whole system is broken and needs to be re-booted, but the nature of politics is that it attracts the kind of people who should be kept as far away from governance as possible, Anyone with integrity gets consumed by a system which is engineered by circumstance for sociopathy.

You certainly don't need me to tell you what you already know.

Is there anything that was said there that isn't true though? It's not hindsight to say Johnson is a wrong un.
Have I said otherwise? The poster referenced me did he not? i simply addressed his comment aimed at me. Is that not reasonable?
