I did the same took the PO Counter exam and was at Lytham Branch Office for a couple of years before moving back to Abington Street
I remember an incident aat Lytham BO.
We shut at 18.00 hrs. One day we locked the front door at the appointed time.
next there is a banging on the door. Reg Carlisle opened it and there was a bloke who said, 'You shut that door before time.'
Reg said 'No we didn't'. There followed an argument and eventually Reg lost his cool.
He said 'If you don't go away I'll wrap the bloody clock round your head'. he then pushed the guy away and locked up.
Next day Reg was summoned to St Annes given a telling off by the Postmaster at St Annes which was the local head office.
We often had a good laugh about it.

Yes, I remember the guy with one arm but can't remember his name.
I'm still in touch with Steve Davies from no.10. On one side we had Mrs Johnson, mother of Mrs Dean. The other side was the Batemans. Threlfalls further down and Turton at no.1. There was the Wright's too (2 lots, 1 of them were my grandparents).
Parsons were opposite us.
We were, or rather I am Dickinson.

Born Glenroyd 1973. First few months of life I lived on Claremont Road, then lived on Waterloo Road for my childhood and teenage years.

Moved to St Annes in my early 20's then moved back to Blackpool and lived on Harley Road for a few years then Anchorsholme.
Met a new partner and had a few moves between St Annes and Lytham before I got settled in St Annes for 10 years before finally ending up in Ansdell where I've been for about 7 years now and love it.
Blackpool is always where I consider home though ❤️

Born in Convent Crescent, Grange Park. 1953 but not until October so missed the final though I was at the homecoming in my mum's tummy. Dad took me to bloomers at about 4, still love it now.
Now in leafy Lytham. Never lived further away than Kirkham.
