18.99 hrs ? Is that Post Office time Dave lolā²I remember an incident aat Lytham BO.
We shut at 18.99 hrs. One day we locked the front door at the appointed time.
next there is a banging on the door. Reg Carlisle opened it and there was a bloke who said, 'You shut that door before time.'
Reg said 'No we didn't'. There followed an argument and eventually Reg lost his cool.
He said 'If you don't go away I'll wrap the bloody clock round your head'. he then pushed the guy away and locked up.
Next day Reg was summoned to St Annes given a telling off by the Postmaster at St Annes which was the local head office.
We often had a good laugh about it.
Barrow.Lucky for you, it would be Morecambe now

Correction! There weren't two Wright families in Leaford Avenue! 1 Wright family and 1 Wilson family! My mistake!Yes, I remember the guy with one arm but can't remember his name.
I'm still in touch with Steve Davies from no.10. On one side we had Mrs Johnson, mother of Mrs Dean. The other side was the Batemans. Threlfalls further down and Turton at no.1. There was the Wright's too (2 lots, 1 of them were my grandparents).
Parsons were opposite us.
We were, or rather I am Dickinson.
